The ones on the 054A are definitely hot launch. They're almost Mark 41 clones.

No need to get your feathers ruffled. I didn't say they were actual clones, as impossible as that would be.
The addition of "probably" is not necessary TBH. The central exhaust vent dividing the VLS module into 2 groups of 4 tubes is a dead giveaway.

I honestly don't know why the missile in the video appeared more than likely to be hot-launched, then.
My best guess would have to do with how the HQ-16 was designed than, as the Shitl is basically a box type VLS system to start with.

That vid is quite interesting in other ways as well.
During the HQ16 launching segment, we had a good look in the CIC of the 054A. In addition, it is confirmation that the 054A can and do use Ka31 AEW helos for detection (maybe also targeting) as one of the controllers shouted out: "helicopter has detected target at vector 060, range 180km'.
I think we need to be careful in thinking that the HQ16 has 180km range though, as that was likely just a result of the editing (and censors) and in reality, there was likely a longer interval after initial detection before they launched the missile.

If detected by helicopter that should be anti-sub scenario, and that should be ASROC firing...but it's CCTV and gov't censorship here (they still won't allow expressly mention the outfit involved in whatever military activity that's broadcast on national television), so we might be seeing a splice-together work of anti-air and anti-sub scenarios.

That looked like an HQ-16 being launched. Besides, no VLA can reach out to 180km. If a sub were detected at 180km, only an ASW helo could make a kill that far out.
HQ-16 is hot-launched from the 054A. The 054A's VLS is a hot launch type, just like the Mk 41.

sorry misspoken I mean hot launch,
from the chatters, it looks like more and more of a concentric canister launcher type of system, which will be interesting as itwill be a first big scale deployment in this size for CCL.

CCTV is notorious for splicing random video segments together. You can only judge shots independently as they may have no relation whatsoever which one another.
