00X/004 future nuclear CATOBAR carrier thread

There is no doubt that eventually China should procure CVNs. What can be debated is whether or not China should also continue to invest in conventional CATOBAR CVs, and when and to what extent China should invest in CVNs. I wonder if there is any data as to the differences in procurement, operational, and lifetime costs of CVNs vs conventional carriers to help better assess whether procuring both types of carriers make sense.
Chinese culture like to have things in pairs [ the saying is ...good things come in pairs!]. We have Liaoning, Shandong, now Fujian, my two bob worth is the 004 will be conventional. After which, nuclear.

CV-18 is not good enough, CVN-19 is the 'good thing'.

Say, if the 4th carrier is indeed CVN-19 instead of just CV-19 - Will the CVN-19 still be a one-off, solo-member class (like Enterprise), or will the CVN-19 be the starting unit of serial production run of a multi-member class of nuclear-powered supercarriers for China (like Nimitz and Ford)?

I doubt anyone here knows for certain but I would say PLAN has invested an awful lot into carrier aircraft - J35, J15B, KJ600 and probably a CATOBAR GJ-11 variant, plus maybe other stuff we don't know about. That suggests they're planning an extensive carrier fleet in the medium term.

I'm guessing it'll be a one-off as the PLA-Navy will find deficiencies where it will be corrected in the next version. I find all this talk of a CVN is premature. They have yet to test out their latest carrier to iron out any unforeseen problems.

After seeing the speculated propulsion layout for 076 I now think that that propulsion system is better suited to conventional CATOBAR carriers that the steam powered 003. This makes me now think that actually the 003 is the pre-CVN one; and therefore is a one off.

If China builds more conventional CATOBAR carriers maybe they will combine the layout of 076 and 003 for a notional dual island carrier.

There will be at least six 19-class CVNs. I have previously mentioned the training capabilities of the land-based prototype reactor.

Unless you are in the innermost circle of the CCP, it's not possible for you to make a bold statement like that lol.
Do we even know if or when PLAN builds thier first CVN that it be like a 1/2 offs or an actual serial production class like Nimitz or Ford?
Nobody knows at this point.
