Assuming that these modules are indeed for the next PLAN carrier, why is it assumed that they are for the CVN rather than a second conventional CATOBAR carrier? Both are rumored to be under construction.

Is it because JNCX built the Type 003?
It looks like a 4 catapult carrier so unless there is a different second/modified coventional design to the Fujian this is most likely for a CVN.

Correction, that specific converging-catapult module is likely for a CVN. Any other modules cannot be deemed with any confidence as belonging to a CVN, so it's still possible the PLAN is building a CV and evaluating the flight deck layout for a CVN with that specific module.

Per @勤劳朴实罗素历 on Weibo, that test/experimental module has been completed even before the Chinese New Year of 2024. He also said that all the necessary work(?) has been completed at that time.

The actual start of construction is very likely to have begun sometime in 3Q or 4Q last year (latter half of 2024), and we should be able to see them (the hull modules themselves or hull module assembly) by 2026 at the earliest.

Not really doubting them but what's 勤劳朴实罗素历's background?
