It's not just shipbuilding. South Korea's economy is under siege on all fronts: memory, foundries, batteries, automobiles, solar panels, home appliances, smartphones, displays, telecommunications, gaming, etc. Frankly, the future of that nation is unclear.

Simple answer is probably that China has the bigger ports, the bigger industrial capacity, and can build ships of the same quality for much cheaper.
