The Fox News report is based on the substack article, and the the substack article is based on unnamed sources and quotes Alina Chan, who is pretty much a COVID conspirator and wrote a whole book without much real evidence. The classified information will probably be released in a week. Let' wait and see. My hunch is that if there had been anything substantial, they would have already been used by the US government to accuse China long time ago.

As for Europe, it is unrealistic for the continent to promote 5G development while excluding Huawei. Huawei's 5G technology, which is mainly based on microwave technology - using base stations instead of optical fibers - is irreplaceable currently. As other alternative solutions like Open RAN are still not feasible, if the EU urges its member states to take restrictive measures against Huawei's 5G equipment, or even impose the ban on Huawei, Europe is actually cutting off its own opportunity in 5G development.

Even if the EU plans to promote Open RAN technology, the O-RAN Alliance also has many Chinese companies, such as China Mobile, China Telecom, and China Unicom, participating in it. In the end, it is impossible for EU to bypass Chinese technology to develop the next generation of communication networks. For instance, The EU is funding Huawei to run cutting-edge research on next-generation communication systems, even though several European governments have banned the Chinese tech group from their telecoms networks, the Financial Times reported on Wednesday.

Western countries that joined were only in it for contracts to build infrastructure. Those were guaranteed contracts meaning if a country defaults on paying back the loan, those contracts to build infrastructure would still be paid by the infrastructure bank no matter what. That's why countries like Canada joined AIIB in the first place. They certainly weren't coughing up all the money to be loaned.

This is blowback of China wanting Western countries to join in the first place. China wanted countries in the West to join just to make it look legitimate. And because of that a pointless country like Canada can make it look like they were an important part of AIIB to then backout like it was a huge loss.

That makes a lot of sense because China's status as a real peer competitor is still very young. Like Kishore Mahbubani like to say one moment China was like a kitten and that one short moment you looked the other way China changed into a big Tiger. Nation state dont know how to handle this new situation.

Many old people (most politicians) rarely change their opinions. We'll have to wait for the next generation to take over for other countries to have an accurate view of modern China

I wouldn't be surprised if these firms were removed from the sanctions list because they are providing goods to Ukraine.

It isn't a coincident that Princess Sirindhorn and the Thail Army chief visted China very recently. This represents the royal house and the military, now we see the probe.

Good to see if real. China, for long, constrained its foreign policy by limiting itself to contacts with national governments. I have an unpopular opinion that it would be quite based if China was actually doing some of the things Western media is accusing it of.
