What's the point of the visit? A dog and pony show and Blinken desperately wants to see as relevant.

But I do hope Blinken could expect a welcome gift during his visit, though:

Also, the Chinese officials responsible for preparing his visit should decorate all the venues for his visit with hundreds or even thousands of red-coloured balloons at every room he stays and along every corridor he walks through.

More merrier that way.

Seriously, though - He should learn from Grand Master Xi on how to eat a healthy diet and practice a healthy lifestyle.

Cuz his face just looks extremely inviting to be slappable (in a funny way, I swear)
This guy is so unlikeable he managed to get himself expelled from my university (an Australian university) spouting liberal talking points LMAO. Haven't heard his name for a long time, and I hope it stays that way.

Reaffirming that US does not seek Cold War, does not seek to contain China, does not Taiwan independence is technically not a "breakthrough" since these are positions that US has publicly held prior. However, China has insisted that Blinken visit is contingent on real action (not bullshit words), for example White House openly refuting the Cuban spy base as not true/false, not releasing FBI report on balloon origin, descalation with South China Sea and Phillipines, extending CHIPS act exemptions for SK/Taiwan to continue operating fabs in China, not escalation in response to Micron chip bans, etc... is promising sign and probably satisfied Wang Yi to allow this visit to continue, but China is more than willing to cancel further visits if US goes back on their words again.

Dragons care not for the opinion of sheep. Or dogs in this case.
SK under Yoon is no longer an US dog, a cat maybe, since no dog would have so little self respect.
Cats are usually pretty independent, can't be a cat
Son's son = grandson. Dog's dog = granddog

not releasing FBI report on balloon origin,
Which is nothing when you compare it to the US’s accusations of Chinese espionage, supposed systematic genocide toward the Uyghur minorities and etc.

descalation with South China Sea and Phillipines,

extending CHIPS act exemptions for SK/Taiwan to continue operating fabs in China,
SK and Taiwan’s economies would take a huge blow, and that would backfire. China is at this point literally not dependent on them.

I don’t know what other things they have promised to China or done to appease China, but the ones mentioned above are very minor compared to other issues. In my opinion, unless China is still in a weak position in a certain field that the US can use as a weapon towards China, this is a weak diplomatic move from China. As we have seen in the past few months, the true beggar is the US, not China. China should have just continued to ignore them until they conceded on several major points of contention.

I think something else on the table for discussion is just in general, regarding Taiwan. What exactly? Well some control so that a hot conflict between China and US erupts this or next year (there's gonna be election in both Taiwan and US somewhat soon).

Not like China won't be able to fight now, but if it can be avoided or at the very least, postponed, then it's something that China want to work towards within 'reasonable parameters' etc.

Posted in Covid thread but reposting here since the other one is mostly dead..

The US will try to increase the "wuhan lab leak" blame game soon. However, the author is also arguing that the US goverment/Fauci was outsourcing the GOF work to China for US DARPA .

With the timing of Blinken's visit, possibly another "leak" trying to prevent US/China engagement though
