why, you think permanent lockdowns is better for economy.

Once China gets massive inventory of antivirals and antibody cocktails for breakthrough hospital cases (mainly elderly/immunocompromised) , and once 100% population is vaccinated and boosted, there is little else you can do against an endemic disease like COVID that can infect rats/dogs/mice/cats. I hope China can get enough supply of antiviral drugs within the next year or so.
China has already approved the Pfizer anti-viral drug. Also there are local Chinese anti-viral drugs.

Sinopharm's 2nd gen protein subunit vaccine NVSI-06-08 just got approved for clinical trials in China. It already has EUA in UAE with local phase III trial ongoing. According to Sinopharm, 80m doses has already been produced with 20m delivered to international buyers.

Since HK data for 3 doses Sinovac looks pretty solid I don't think there's a hurry for new vaccines. Let people finish the real-world proven 3 doses inactivated vaccines. New vaccines can wait for the 4th shot.

Junshi's VV116 remdesivir-like oral anti-viral pill has begun phase II/III trial in Shanghai and phase II trial in Beijing. I don't expect VV116 to be as good as Paxlovid, but it should be extremely easy to scale up production.

Junshi's VV993, a 3C-like protease inhibitor similar to the main component of Paxlovid, is in pre-clinical. There are 3 other 3C-like protease inhibitors under development in China, all in pre-clinical.

Once VV116 is ready China should announce an open-up target date and pressure people to get vaccinated. Given limited medical resource I see no problem for China to set an upper limit for ICU beds for covid-19 patients and deprioritize people who are unvaccinated without good medical reasons. I have no problem with deprioritizing liver transplants for alcoholics, so I see no ethical problem here.

Why people still care about this virus? I went to shopping mall yesterday, no one was wearing a mask, I also didn't wear that rag. It's over, the life is almost back to normal, only flights to other countries are not back, I suggest to stop testing at all, and this madness will disappear, and international tourism will be back.
Have you gone insane or something? Besides your comment shows you're clearly not living in China and more than likely living in Canada, U.S. or Europe. Let the countries of residence in the west do what they deemed are best for their countries and let China do the same for her own people. Judging from the number of deaths, infections, and success measured in economic impact, the Chinese government has come out as the winner (if anyone can even call this pandemic a winner at all) in this global struggle against Covid-19.

If you're happy, and content with what you're doing do you dude, just stop spouting ignorant nonsense for China to adopt. I don't know if you're Chinese or just some western fella who's more or less not as fascist against China but you really need to be circumspect with your opinion before dispensing them on any platform because your ignorance of the situation shows.

I just want to comment that HK mortality rate for covid is 0.65%. Even with the best case scenario, China mortality rate for covid would be upward of 2 million in the first year. Both MSM and liberals in China have been trying to convince China and Chinese covid is just a cold but the reality covid isn't a cold. China shouldn't consider to live with covid yet.

Has anyone heard about the new XE variant?
Yes I do, I read skim through some articles about. It looks like a recombination of Delta and Omicron that might be even more severe and infectious than BA.2? Either way, this is expected as the virus is given a lot of host to mutate itself.

Just pray that we'll eventually collectively win the gacha roll for an SSR variant, that is extremely mild, with no long term effect and infectious enough that it gives everyone immunity.

Over 50,000 doctors and nurses from other provinces have arrived at Shanghai. More are coming. Shanghai was ordered self test for all population on Sunday. On Monday, all 25 million Shanghaiese would be tested using single tube within 36 hours and all results within 6 days.

I really want to see the Shanghai local government get reprimanded hard for their failures now. Why the hell did they let this situation go out of control like this, and yet they still try to hide it like you said with mild cases not being counted as symptomatic.

From these numbers, there seems to be a 10:1 ratio between asymptomatics and asymptomatics.

If you bring that ratio to Western countries...
We reported over 20000 just in nsw alone yesterday. Most experts here believe that number can be as much as ten times less than actual real figure due to lack of testing and people just not caring anymore. Death averages about 20 a day which is less than hk but that's about 600 deaths a month from covid mostly the old and vulnerable. I guess that figure is acceptable for "civilized" western society to stomach so as live with covid.
