Slight correction, 88kW/L refers to the total power generation ability of the ICE, i.e. 118hp per liter, not the hybrid component, also seems like it's a series hybrid and not a parallel hybrid?

It's not even that, it refers to the specific power per displacement volume.
The presentation states that output to the wheels is entirely electric, which makes me wonder how much power is actually going into the tracks, if 88kW/L only refers to the ICE

Base version of the Type 100 allegedly is only 35t, any lighter it'll be more of a tracked assault gun than an actual tank.
IMO, probably the losing competitor design and/or possibly for export.
You can have actual light tank at far lower weight, it's a matter of design priority and stated assault role...
Just one of the early design, may be converted into an export product.
