This shows that sticks work, carrots don't. China going out of it's way to hide this and not escalate further reinforces Philippines' delusions

And even in this example, this person was in that position during Duterte's administration, which was considered more China-friendly. You can only imagine what their population and elites think of China right now
This is exactly the worst situation, especially everyone believes that 'China is unlikely to take military action'. So, this victory undoubtedly inspires them that 'continuing to fight can drag down the enemy'.
If the counterattack is still a bluff (unable to cause humiliating losses to the other party), then we can foresee that many countries will adopt the same(may be more) tough attitude.
for some reason today china after so many suffer still thinking if they playing nice , be a nice guy somehow miracle gonna happen the world will understand , the divine heaven in sky will understand and throw down magic make the west fall , hand over world mandate of heaven to china .
with minimum violent and bloodshed ....aka 以德服人 Conquer people with virtue
I dislike this kind of narcissistic thinking. In reality, some bastards can only be whipped to make them behave. I have never believed in moralism. However, imagining history as a comedy that only repeats itself is too naive. But overall, I still agree with this point. These countries feel that we are being aggressive simply because they have become accustomed to our past cowardice.
Now, the patriots will likely demand not only punishment for the commander/commissar who gave orders to DDG-164, but also those involved in censorships and coverups. Guess what, now the PLA (or CMC/CPC as a whole, ultimately the Chairman of CMC himself) is losing even more face that it already did because of the obviously failed - and continuously failing - coverup.
I don't think the soldiers involved in this matter should be punished. The responsibility lies entirely with the leadership who are addicted to playing hide and seek games.

You're mistaken in thinking that China today is acting as a naive nice guy. That period had practically ended in 2016. If China was playing nice, it would have accepted that scandalous 2016 tribunal by the Permanent Court of Arbitration. China would not have built an airstrip on Meiji Jiao. China would not have been sending the CCG to regularly harass and boot out Filipino presence around its SCS islands. A nice and compliant China would have blindly accepted the Western and SEA interpretation of UNCLOS.

The one side of China that had been playing nice is the ROC (Taiwan). Its shares the same claims in the SCS as the PRC. Yet, because it had been so meek in enforcing China's claims, Filipino coastguards had the cheek to shoot and kill a Taiwanese fisherman back in 2013. The PCG have also shot and killed fishermen from other ASEAN nations. But as of today, the PCG have not the balls to shoot at mainland Chinese fishermen. Why is that? Its simple, mainland China is not to be messed with. The last SEA nation that FAFOed with China had its marines chewed up by cannon rounds from a PLAN warship on an islet. Yes, the Filipinos should be on a high from laughing at the CCG-PLAN blunder. If they start feeling tough, they are can try to FA with mainland China and FO.
that not really a high bar achievement for a superpower nation like china
they are the one should be fear of PRC CG not having good mood someday and turn some of their fishermen or sailor, coatguard men into fish meal with lead instead

Its not about how serious the accident is, its about the government not coming clean with it and trying to sweep it under the rug like nothing happened. They are deleting all picture and video of it on domestic internet. To my knowledge all of those accidents in/about the US were heavily reported both domestically and internationally.

Maybe not trying to stir public sentiments and be forced to adopt a more confrontational stance.

As I said some time back China ought to be ashamed to let countries like Phillipines led them by the nose. China is too dove here, always trying to play Mr Nice.

Qing Dynasty says what?
Let me put it this way, because it was the last dynasty and also a dynasty that passively entered modern times. The slow response of this dynasty during the 70 years of rapid changes in the situation has resulted in the cost and negative impact that China has paid to this day.
China has lost territory, its geopolitical security has been completely undermined, and it has also gained stereotypes such as "ching chang chong" and "pig tail" that still exist today.
This failure that lasted for over a hundred years is enough to render all the achievements of this dynasty meaningless.

I don't think I need to take history class here. The expansion achievements of the Qing Dynasty obviously cannot make up for those lost things.

Your work is reasonably well known here. One might even say you have some fans on this board.

You really ought to formally introduce yourself so the community can give you the recognition you deserve, Collin!
This is good because being recognised by one's peers is known to boost testosterone levels. Once it passes a certain threshold, he may find:
- the discussion topics here becoming much more agreeable
- a fiery passion for the rise of one's own people
- an interest in women
and many more benefits.

I'm really out this time. I'll be back next time a PLAN ship rams another Chinese ship in the international waters of The West Philippine Sea (or East Sea as its called in Vietnam). :p
Really out this time? Or really really out?

But lets be serious, since 2013, China has: fortified the South China Sea (this is what the region is officially known as), totally ignored the toothless court of arbitration ruling, and pressured the Philippines pimp (the US) to near breaking point.

By the time you're back, the Philippines might have fallen under Chinese dominion, or perhaps be truly independent, with "West Philippine Sea" living on in name only as the marque of a popular brothel chain run by our overseas 反贼.

Sigh. Looks like my posts in this echo chamber have been deleted. Badge of honour, I guess. Perhaps I just need to parrot what's in Global Times? Or what I see on China's jingoist internet?

Before I leave you guys for good, here's the KFX Plan For Peace in the South China Sea.

1) China abandons the bases it has illegally built on SCS atolls.
2) China abandons 9-dash line claims - they are globally opposed
3) Countries with an SCS interest - Brunei, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, Vietnam - sit down to hash out claims as equals. Ideally SCS could become a vast nature reserve under international protection.
4) And, to ensure the pro-CCP moderators block me again, China needs to recognise Taiwan as a sovereign state. It is a country and its citizens don't want to be part of China, particularly given how CCP screwed Hong Kong.

If China follows this it will be win-win for all in the new era of common destiny!

Bye!
Only a retard would agree to A ONE SIDED PROPOSAL!! But coming from a self-hating turd and smug know-it-all Uncle Chang "Collin Koh" isn't a surprise. Once a cuck, always a cuck.

[#US Destroyer Illegally Intruded into Huangyan Island Waters, Driven Away by Southern Theater Command Navy#]

Senior Colonel He Tiecheng, spokesperson for the Southern Theater Command Navy of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), stated that on August 13, the USS Higgins (DDG-76) illegally entered the territorial waters of China’s Huangyan Island without authorization from the Chinese government. The PLA Southern Theater Command Navy mobilized forces to track, monitor, and expel the vessel in accordance with laws and regulations.

The U.S. military’s actions constitute a severe violation of China’s sovereignty and security, seriously undermine peace and stability in the South China Sea, and breach international law and fundamental norms of international relations. The Southern Theater Command Navy remains on high alert at all times, resolutely defending national sovereignty and regional peace. (South Sea Fleet)

You might want to read the ROC constitution and the land claims made by your "Taiwan" government. The origins of the "Taiwan" flag and the heritage of the "taiwanese armed forces". As someone leaning pan blue and whose family are kmt supporters. Please educate yourself more on the topic instead of parroting reddit talking points and sounding like an idiot

Don't derail the thread, break posting rules on purpose and then cry that the moderators are pro-cpc
What does that idiot "knows" about actual Chinese history, when all of his so-called historical knowledge are entirely lifted from the Japanese and Korean School of Real Chinese History. Lol

That poster was Singaporean. What do you expect?

Also y'all believe me now when I said that a good chunk of the population here is mentally colonized? They worship the western rule based order even if the hate america. The only thing most of them know of Taiwan/china are annoying tourists, boba tee and scenic vacation spots.
