You've got to love Americans. Remember when they spent decades preaching free trade and unfettered open borders to capital, now all of a sudden globalization sucks when they're not on top anymore.
JD Vance, being very upfront about why the US is against globalization. Pretty blunt. Basically states that they can't beat china in trade.
They never expected china to catch up to them, always being their manufacturer of cheaper stuff. But never thought china would succeed in going up the value chain and surpassing them.
Freedom of speech in the US, today's case in point:
I mean Warren Buffet and Soros must be taking so much Ls, spending so much money that doesn't always have returns
Soon all that talk about Chinese debt trap in the media and chinas the one that lost the most money?
What's the point of lending if media campaigns can easier make one lose money, and lose more than others.
I wonder how much of the loss was accepted by china just so they don't encourage any more negative press?
China needs a better media campaigns for this or just not listen to the media.
I wonder if the Chinese govt knows that no matter how much they bend over backwards to lend generously to these countries, all it takes is a negative media campaign to negate all that good will.
At least they should announce it as a gift to Sri Lanka so everyone knows they are being generous.
Unless there another angle here for china, it could be another rare L for china. That and the CK port sale. They really need to cancel the port sale, I don't care if the govt needs to threaten Li's entire extended family to make him back out. I'm pretty sure the US would do the same. Time to fight dirty, com'on CPC. Do it!
Kinmen and Matsu are part of Fujian province, even in the ROC system....
"Japan has requested that Taiwan explicitly state its pavilion at the upcoming World Exposition in Osaka is run by a private firm, sources close to Japan-Taiwan ties said Sunday.
The Foreign Ministry is believed to have made the request after determining that a statement by the Taiwanese government suggested the pavilion would be an official exhibit. Japan does not have diplomatic relations with Taiwan.
Taiwan will be exhibiting under a private firm as it is not a member of the Bureau International des Expositions. Its economic affairs ministry said in a statement earlier this month that it would be presenting the "Tech World" pavilion.[...]"
