I don't know. Recent reports of TikTok censorship leads me to believe some backroom deals may have been struck. It would be incredibly dissappointing if China succumbs to pressure and sells. Tremendous loss of face as well.

Algorithm was never the issue to them. It is the brand name because let’s be honest. They will put their own algorithm in and most people don’t care and won’t really notice. The China Hawks are basically doing what the Biden Hawks were doing with Russia. They are attempting to isolate China as part of their preparations to fight China. The only reason why the China hawks are offering an olive branch right now is because they are scrambling to rebuild before directly fighting China.
