Europeans and everyone else should blame Europeans themselves for the current mess they are in, and not their current transient momentary politicians. The citizens clearly want the power to resist the US recently mega-cucking them (not losing hundreds of billions due to the Ukraine war, not letting the US steal their economic value, now even stealing their territory), yet they still keep the inferior most idiotic type of political system, in the world, DeMoCrAcY, where the government is 100% always weak. Instead, they cope with that by changing various governments with 10-30% support rates, with new parties, they think something will magically change, yet it always remains the same, they all break their promises, precisely because the system is weak and the US and CIA can manipulate it in 300 ways to assure its dominance over various political parties, it's very logical to happen. Those political parties simply have no power to resist the reliance and dominance of the US. However, if citizens actually got rid of their delusions, and gave more power to their OWN domestic governments, something would change. Until that happens, Europe will always be more and more violated now that the US is collapsing and needs to compensate by stealing value from them.

So true, he is a master politician if you ask me, so why dwell on domestic problem that will grind your presidency, why not enlarge your territory and feast on their new victim. That's how the Roman did it and become an empire so why not the US since they believed they are the inheritor of the Roman Empire. A big plus for the global south with China in particular as it buy them time as the American are busy in administrating their new found possession, NO new war for a minimum of 10 years at least as the US maybe amicable to settled any dispute with China regarding Taiwan and Russia with Ukraine as they eat their fill to their fullest.

The problem is that this is a very outdated model because essentially the current world is not about the constant scramble for resources, slaves, soldiers, and tribute, but about technology and intelligence and being exceptional from within.

For example, China adds one entire Australian GDP internally yearly, without any risks associated with conquest, and their own citizens get a corresponding rise in real wages since they are the only contributors to that rise of productivity within.

Also, the Roman Empire massively expanded territory mostly when they were still a young and healthy empire, in the early stages, not when they were terminally ill like the US today. Imagine justifying all that conquest when you have record homelessness, record inter-racial tensions, deepest political polarization, etc. It will only backfire, whatever you do. What realistically can happen is that the US gets bogged down in Mexico, and Panama, and then they still also decide to attack China, but in a worse position than before, because of their envy and fear. If you didn't observe this already, that's shame on you, the weaker the US gets the more they are hostile against China.

The thing is that they also benefit from the Western global hegemony, in certain areas, to a certain extent, so it is normal that they also feel like they support the US as the leader of that coalition naturally. However, it made sense a few years ago, but not anymore for sure.

The problem is that they are now essentially asked by Trump to contribute way, way more than what they actually receive from that joint collective Western global position. Or even before Trump, even since the War in Ukraine technically started they were totally suckers.

The current order is the US > UK > EU, in terms of who benefits the most from that collective position/perception. But in terms of who bleeds the most for that collective stance now, it turned out to be EU > UK > US. Totally inverted/unfair situation. This is how I see these things.


But what prevents them from dealing with this injustice is their almost theological belief in the shitiest political system in existence - their cancerous procedural democracy - that keeps their government perpetually weak to deal with anything, not to mention the US machinations.

It's not hard to see why Canadians aren't patriotic.

Smaller economy dominated by neighbour, tiny population. You can double your pay by working in the States or doing remote work for an American company. The skills that are needed for the economy like analytical thinking, quantitative skills, professional ambition, are the same things that make people do the cold, hard math and realize they're leaving money on the table by working in Canada.

Similar to Taiwan, although they're running the same type of propaganda that got Yoon elected on the island 24/7

Originally the pretext of Rome expansion is to settled those poor Romans first in Cisalpine Gaul and then to the rest of Gaul, Right now militarily the US is very formidable not a Hyper power like 15 years ago BUT still very capable. China legitimately have claim on Taiwan due to unsettled civil war, what claim does US have on Canada or Greenland or Panama Canal? What the War of 1812 is an unsettled matter and they are resuming hostility?

Not here for a normative debate on whether might makes right, but Americans, especially her domestic nationalists, tend to feel rather warm and fuzzy about renewing Uncle Sam's commitment to Manifest Destiny these days.

Many of them genuinely believe, rightly or wrongly, that they or at least the US government would be making the world a better place by further expanding the US and making more people Americans.

This is very much reflected by how recent US administrations sold some rather problematic conflicts to the American public: "We are not invading them, we are bringing them freedom and democracy! Hooyah!"

That's exactly why Trump acts like this. He wants to look tough and aggressive to electrify his base

Democracy can get rather performative, and gorillas do not possess a monopoly on chest beating.

It's a popular pastime for some modern Western leaders, especially in countries like Britain and France where the head of government and the head of state, respectively, have been feeling particularly politically vulnerable lately.

Soon-to-be President Trump is interested in establishing a legacy like any other politician in his position.

However, he doesn't actually need many, if any wins as he won't be running for re-election.

This is probably why he wants to indulge in a Jeffersonian-esque exercise in purchasing Greenland: might not do much for the US in immediate terms, but potentially achievable, and it'll make him the first president to physically expand the United States in three generations.

What realistically can happen is that the US gets bogged down in Mexico, and Panama

Mr Trump is not going to give Mexicans what many of them have wanted for decades: American citizenship. He might "get tough" with Mexican DTOs, but that can be largely outsourced to Mexico and limited in scope.

Likewise, four years isn't going to be enough time to turn Canada into an American state unless President Trump somehow lucks out on or creates an opportune crisis that'll convince Canadians to eat up the idea of de jure Americanization.

I'm not even going to get started on the inevitable GOP opposition to such a scenario given the long term effects it'll have on the balance of power in Congress . . .

On the other hand, it's plausible that the Trump administration can and will "convince" Denmark to sell Greenland just as Russia sold Alaska when Jefferson was in office.

As for Panama: an US invasion of the country will likely feel like a "live fire training exercise" to much of SOCOM. That could definitely be an easy win for soon-to-be President Trump if he is ballsy enough to pull the trigger.

The thing is that all those territories are already "US" in the same way as Hong Kong is China. Marching in with soldiers and planting more American flags there is not expanding the US empire, it's at most consolidating and reshuffling offices within the same country.

That doesn't mean China shouldn't maximally extract value from the internal US conflict, encourage independence from US and make these areas into quagmires. And especially Mexico with all those insane cartels in there are just waiting to be used to make life unpleasant in the US core home areas.
