Lol the delusions of grandeur on so many Indians are just off the bleeping chart.

The relative economic growth of India have totally warped the mindset of these folks who are in haste to become the alternative to China without addressing its many fundamental weaknesses that plagues the country -- most of which are known to this forum.

So rather than seek or focus on strengthening their economy and biding their time in the sun these numbnuts are advocating for their country's leadership to confront China and treat her as it's mortal enemy. Their strategy is simply to piggy back to the U.S. maintenance of its hegemony in the ASIA-PACIFIC while India become it's regional sheriff and be allowed to carve out its own sphere of influence. Essentially playing the same role it had when it was the colony of the British Empire. What a tragedy.

No countries powerful enough to make world decisions need subsidies. Right now, America tells the Arabs what to do if they don't want to be turned into the next Iraq/Afghanistan. Arabs have no power; even with oil, they bow to technology.

It makes sense if you accept that India is a fundamentally weak country, despite its size. The main question in New Delhi is which hegemon it becomes dependent upon: the US or China. Given the close commercial and especially people-to-people links with the West, many Indian elites prefer to be a subcontractor to the US.

I'm not annoyed by this strategy. What annoys me is when Indians pretend they are more powerful than they actually are. Or that their geopolitical stances are not taken because of their relative weakness. When China was rising, you didn't see this chest-thumping. It was only once China grew to a certain size - and began to attract America's attention in a negative way - that China began to take up more space.

What we see here is Indian chest-thumping but expecting America to do its bidding. New Delhi will quickly find out they will be serving DC and not the other way 'round. Ask the Indians how much the US cared for India's opinions when they couped Bangladesh's previous pro-Indian ruler out of office.
