While TV surfing I came across a drama series where a black actress had the role of Queen Elizabeth the first. I didnt bother to watch it/

Singapore as a financial hub also has large numbers of high paying office jobs. The west is dominant in finance and India Indians are good at placing themselves into these jobs. (Whether they perform well once there is a separate discussion.)

India government has successfully exploited the confluence of these two factors to push Singapore to "balance" the import of both low-skill and highly-paid Indians. Basically, if you want more low skill workers, you must issue more visas for highly paid workers as well.

One way out of using large numbers of low skill workers is automation. That's a long term thing.

Asia-to-Europe shipping costs up 400% – EU commissioner​

The disruptions to shipping caused by Houthi rebel attacks on vessels in the Red Sea have raised the cost of transporting goods on some China-to-Europe routes by around 400%, according to European Economy Commissioner Paolo Gentiloni, who also mentioned that shipping times on such routes had increased by 10-15 days.

The commissioner expressed hope that the crises on one of the world’s most important trade routes won’t lead to a significant increase of inflation in the EU, but added that “further supply disruptions could lead to higher prices.”

The Yemen-based Houthi rebels have carried out dozens of drone and missile attacks on commercial vessels moving across the Red Sea since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas war in October. As a result, many major shipping companies have stopped using the Suez Canal and are instead redirecting ships around the Cape of Good Hope in southern Africa.

The attacks have also reportedly caused average container prices to double globally in the past month, while fuel tanker rates for certain destinations have surged to their highest level in years.

Last month, EU foreign ministers reached a tentative agreement to launch a naval mission in the Red Sea to defend cargo ships. Germany, France, and Italy proposed the move in response to requests from the Netherlands, whose merchant shipping industry has been particularly impacted by the attacks.

The bloc’s top diplomat, Josep Borrell, has said that the mission is expected to be launched on February 19.

Indian origin people are consistently top buyers of Arab real estate. and i have no doubt Indian are biggest spender when it comes to precious metals and shopping events. Indians are earning money globally otherwise how can they finance trade deficit , keep stock market higher and still have flow of capital. Arabs have found the ideal diaspora that they can impose on the world.

So much for having "experienced politicians". I suppose they are better than US on terminal decline, or EU puppets, but "good" is not a word I would use to describe them. Stupid, naive, but not quite suicidal like western neighbors. They dugged themselves into this position. I will not rule out they do another dumb move after Putin. If the idiot Medvedev is back it is entirely in character to stupid stuff.
