Yeah it is not like the T-90S is a wonder weapon. It is a decent tank but has been superseded by the T-90MS.
Even if they had the T-90MS in those high altitude conditions the Type 99A should operate better since it has a higher power engine.
Type 99A should have similar ballistic performance vs the T-90S but might be worse than T-90MS with Vacuum-1 ammo.
Anyway talking about light tanks the ZTQ-15 is well suited for the terrain in question and with the requisite armor packages should be able to do well enough against that kind of opponent.

The ZTQ-15 is supposedly uparmorable with ERA, whose efficacy is supposed to be sufficient to resist older T-72 and T-90 ammunition. The point is that it's not fully uparmorable to an MBT's standard, because the power and space isn't there. Even if it were, you're still stuck with a 105mm gun, not a 125 or 120mm gun.

Doesn't seem too likely. Outright stopping any reasonable APFSDS at combat angles with just ERA is extremely hard, it either takes significant space or some reasonable armor beneath.
ZTQ-15 ERA isn't exactly overly thick, neither probably is its hull.
Unless proven wrong I personally consider ZTQ-15 to be focused on stopping HEAT/reasonable IFV autocannons.
Being very blunt, Indian T-90S is basically a T-72B with welded turret, FCS and gunner's thermal.
Honestly speaking, at this point they seriously need an upgrade.

T-90 and T-72 of IA are NOT anywhere near 5000m LOL. The T-90's got airlifted and they only lifted a handful because they couldn't put up anymore than a handful. To where? Well not anywhere near the new border that's for sure. The Indians have been publicly showing their deployment as openly as the Chinese and not a single tank of the IA is near the points of contention or the new mountain tops south of Pangong lake that were being contested.
India deployment of T 90 is simply a counter to Chinese deployment. We will deploy tanks that we have so T 72 and T 90 are deployed and yes they are deployed at above 4000 meter. avg elevation in Tibet is around 4400 meter not 5000+ meter as members here like to think. even in india side Eastern ladakh elevation is same.

Sprut light tank will probably give more operational flexibility if deal go through. I think both sides are trying to disengage and do not want to fight. Just posturing going on in my opinion.

Mods how come this guy seems to be left unchecked to roam around and derail threads..? I for one am here to check up on the ZTQ-15 and couldn‘t care less about at what altitudes a T-90 can be deployed...
You are very intelligent guy indeed. i think mod are even more intelligent than you. You should take a break from this forum and do some introspection why despite your higher intelligence mod don't want to listen to you.
