ZTQ-15 and PRC Light Tanks

China has developed a new type of armor-piercing bullet for 105mm rifled gun that helps type 15 can destroy almost all major tanks in the world with one shot.

Do you have a source for this?

By the way, do you understand the difference between a bullet and a shell?

This just says it can penetrate the T-90S Indian Army operates. Nothing about T-90M/MS and certainly nothing about all MBTs. T-90S frontal penetration is quite possible with a long one piece APFSDS which the Type 15 uses. 105mm isn't anything to laugh at but this is all possible because the T-90S isn't exactly well armoured even from the frontal arc. The T-90S can be potentially upgraded with the latest Russian ERA which may dampen hopes for the 105mm L7 and associated new APFSDS. T-90S is a mid 40 tonne tank and T-90 along with T-72s are famously focused more on firepower and mobility and not on protection. A 70 tonner would absolutely wreck this APFSDS and this 105mm's hope of achieving penetration.

The article isn't about ZTQ-15.

By the way, the article is in Chinese, and it's against forum rules to provide a link in a foreign language without also providing a translation or translated summary.

Have you read our forum rules?

It is mostly talking about Bangladesh's VT-5 purchase which is assumed to be using the same L7 105mm and APFSDS rounds that the Type 15 is using. I'm guessing this is what FangYuan is assuming which is fair enough. However the premise the ZTQ-15 has some wonder APFSDS is false.

It doesn't actually talk about frontal/turret armor penetration. All it says is that the shell is capable of penetrating "车体", which is the hull. Well, ain't that impressive? I should hope the 105mm rifled gun could at least punch through the side of the hull.

It can't be assumed willy nilly that the export VT5 shares the same gun as ZTQ-15. A fanboy might do that, but we aren't a fanboy forum, are we? :p

Yes. Well that's entirely pointless then. One would hope their tank round and gun can make easy work of side armour. I assumed 车体 is written to mean the main frontal armour. What would be the point otherwise? Anyway personal understandings aside, that's still not all MBTs. Not even remotely close.
