Got more translations on this, it's attracted quite the following on Chinese bbs, a lot of posts on it. This is one posted by someone I respect a little bit describing SY-400 a little bit based on one of the video posted on SY-400

SY-400's battle doctrine is already shown, it's VLS launched, quickly climb to the top of the ballistic arc and then use TVC to turn, use controll system to keep missile flat, use the large fin surfaces to produce elevation gliding forward, missile use low lowering rate to extend the distance to the target, GPS/INS system to guide the ballistic path downward. Close-in to above the target, missile use large AoA? to attack target, video shows SY-400 can use multiple warhead, single high yield warhead or thermobaric warhead.
结论是这个SY400不论是从弹体结构、制导模式还是飞行轨迹看都TNND是山寨版的陆基SM4，是一种复合制导远程地地导弹 ——叫远程涅，还是近程涅？跟火箭弹甚至SM4比SY400射程远的多，广大童鞋们眼中的神器WS2射程不过200千米，SM4射程也只有280千米，即使增加MK72助推器射程也就370千米，而SY400号称射程达到460千米，但是跟东风比又近多了 另外，SY400这个跟网火没有关系，因为他不具备网火那种巡飞弹性质。TB叫它制导火箭弹纯粹TNND是为了摆脱近程导弹300千米的出口限制，方便PYZ罢了

SY-400 seems to be Chinese version of SM-4, it's said to have a range of 460 km (not sure about this, since other part says that it has a range of 200 km with 200 kg warhead). Much shorter than DF series. China is calling it guided artillery to not be limited by the 300 km export restriction.
另外，SY400虽然能采用多种战斗部，但是以它的运载效率和战斗部体积——看一下SM4就知道了，丫的MK125战斗部只有135千克，SY400能大多少？装子母弹的话只相当于3、4颗155mm炮弹的携带量，装末敏弹也就是6～8个，花哈么多银子灰好几百千米就仍介么点东东下来核算否？俺不知道 所以，SY400还是老老实实装个大威力高爆战斗部打些重点目标吧。跟视频一样真派一个营SY400当远程火箭炮使那可是钱多烧的没出花了，这一刻米帝也会泪流满面滴

it has different types of warhead. SM-4's MK-125 has 135 kg of warhead. SY-400 can fit 3 or 4 155 mm rounds of cluster bombs? SY-400 should be fitted with high yield explosives against important targets.

any picture of jet engines,this year air show display a lot of jet engine the star of the show was WS-10,aside from this a new 2500kg. thrust high bypass TF,200kg and 700kgs. jet engine for trainer and cruise missile.other was mysterious 9500kg thrust "leaky jet" (WS-16?)

So it means the missile goes straight up to altitude, then more or less glides over the target, and then moves straight down do decrease CEP?
Also, how easy / difficult would it be to launch from a ship VLS? Given the SM-4 comparisson, it seems to have a good NFS capability.

Yes it may be possible, although conventional nozzles at rest can sometimes bend that way due to gravity. But since this is a model, its suggesting possible TVC.

There isn't any universal "Most efficient" shape, it's not like there is airodynamic to be considered of like an aircraft, here it's plain brain lazyness.

No such a thing as "the best there is", there is ALWAYs a better sollution or otherwise science would never advance. If you are always content with just copying the "good" known sollution, then according to that kind of logic you will ALWAYS be a copycat and never catch up, ever.

We also evolved our submarines to look like some fish for good reason.
