regardless frequency, light is inherently vulnerable to dissipation than lower frequency radio waves.
so I don't think this thing is aimed at replacing conventional radars, but to complement them. Essentially it is an improvement of existing Optical detectors like IR imagining. Current IR imaging is like mechanical scanning Radar, the proposed device would be Electrical scanned with all advantages that would add.

Thanks for the infor. That will be an even better solution than DLP. But my knowledge in this area is very limited. Will do some research.

First time I have entered this thread. I am no hi-tech person, but really fantastic what China has developed. It was the Chinese that invented "Gunpowder" ,,,, so naturally, present times they are capable of modern inventions and hi-tech advancements in various fields, be it in the military and for civilian uses/purposes. BZ (Bravo Zulu = Well Done) China aircraft etc. developments.

The Chinese did not invent gunpowder; they discovered it. There's a big difference.

The optical array would probably work basically the same as compound eye of an insect.
They do not focus on an object but are able to identify very fast moving objects from the surrounding view.
It would work very well on countering incoming missiles and identifying an adversary during dog fights.
