Actual PLAAF used loyal wingman will probably either resemble GJ-11 type layout as Russia and the US have both indicated they are pursuing or the Dark Sword's layout. These FH stuff just don't have the range, speed or payload to be a decent loyal wingman. If attrition is the goal, then China already wins since it has 1000 types of drones and can produce them faster and cheaper along with the missiles of course. The US want to go down a path of cheap and plentiful drone warfare... this is China's strength.

It's not if the US wants to go down a path of cheap and plentiful airborne drone warfare.

That is the future

But it happens that this benefits China in terms of industrial strength AND the geography of the Western Pacific, where China has land bases in depth whilst there is a huge gap between the 1st and 2nd Island Chains

I already did some posts on this a few years ago

The low cost, mid to low tier mass produced unmanned system (aerial or sea-based) will benefit the country with mass produce capability but high-end capability constrained most.
In short: maybe China is still struggling to produce F135 level engine, but she has no problem to produce 10 times more cheap swarm UCAV than US even the whole west combined.
So the wise choice would be do not start the arms race in the first place.

China isn't actually engaged in an arms race

SIPRI have Chinese military spending at 1.7% of GDP for the past 20-odd years
The US is currently at 3.7%, which is twice the Chinese level

But if China were to increase military spending to 3.7% like the US, guess what happens?
China actually would spend more on the military than the USA, if you remove the effect of labour costs from the calculation

And we haven't even looked at lower military equipment and operations costs in China

Anyway, back on topic

Why would China copy PPT designs? Is he even aware of the fact that FC-31 V2.0 has been flying since 2016?
@siegecrossbow Sir that poster is a known Indian troll wanna be expert, who sprout nonsense and plagiarized others view as his owned during my time browsing KeyPublishing Forum for J10 and J20 (2007?) . In that forum I had to know poster such as @Deino @Tirdent ,@SteelBird, CROBATO ( for me the reincarnation of @Tam both are the same person and have the same writing style) and even you I think so you do remember him right?

Is he also aware that up until last year, the AMCA PPT didn’t even use DSI inlets? Who is copying whom?
Possibly feeding inflammatory topics here... but does anyone remember the original MCA concept PPT with no vertical stabilizers? (really dating myself here)

Kind of interesting because there was no FC-31 back then (JF-17 wasn't even flying yet), but now you've went from J-8II to J-10, fully domestic J-11, J-20, and flying prototypes of FC-31.
AMCA has gone through at least 5/6 PPT revisions and clay models, so basically equal.

If we think back of the contemporary Zhuhai airshow around this time, the big reveal was... J-7MF!
