i was about to talk regarding Engine.. since they cannot get Engine from Ukraine and neither from Russia. so its obvious the Engines are locally produced. they had couple of turboshaft Engine projects.

the most interesting part is, which Engine they are going to use.

here are few options.
Zhuhai airshow 2022

AECC present, 30 kg flow core machine, the maximum thrust is 19-20 tons, and its typical derivative aero engine.

The "30kg/s" gas generator exhibited this time adopts an advanced double-rotor structure with annular combustor design and is used for the core engine of a 30-50-ton heavy-duty helicopter turboshaft engine. It can also be derived and developed into advanced turboprops and propeller fans. Engines for medium and large transport aircraft..

the actual machine was present in airshow with official video and they specifically mentioned heavy duty transport helicopter.

there is also another 5000KW heavy duty turboshaft Engine AES-500.. development has been completed. probably is in advance stages of testing and evaluation.. we don't have much information just like we have full details of AEP-500 turboprop Engine.

all these next gen helicopters prototype suddenly appeared. these are likely the tech demonstrator. once testing and evaluation complete they will go to next phase means bigger version with more powerful Engines. without Engine supply, this was not possible.

this is the reason why Changhe decided to go alone in AHL project. means Engine is there.

The AES-500 would be below the power level of the Lotarev D-136. Even if it existed.

8500 kW emergency power. 7500 kW takeoff power. 6338 kW cruise power.
Engine companies typically state the engine power level as the takeoff power number which is higher than the cruise.

Either they make it a smaller helicopter or go for a triple engine like the CH-53K.

The Lotarev D-136 was based on the D-36 engine core used in the An-72. The D-36 got its power boosted and was used in the An-148 and Tu-334. Basically a C909.

Something like the AES-500 would be smaller but could be used in the Bell MV-75 tiltrotor clone as well. Sharing development costs. The AEP-500 derived turboprop should be used in the MA-700 and the carrier AEW&C aircraft.

You would still have to design a gearbox for it though and that is hardly simple.
