A Chinese documentary on the development of the Z-10:
Some points of note:
1) The fuselage was designed with reduced radar signature in mind.
2) Composite material was used extensively in the fuselage.
3) The turboshaft engine features the 2nd general single-crystal blades, with the actual power output being more than 20% greater than the designed output.
4) In order to reduce the empty weight, the fuselage was redesigned to reduce the number of structural components. Previously, the internal framework was composed of 36 composite tubes and beams joined together; the new design reduced the main structural components to three. The weight savings resulted in increased fuel fraction, making Z-10's combat radius the highest in the world at the time of its debut.
The cockpit frame is very light, as seen here being lifted by two men without much effort:

One of the earliest prototypes:
Did the documentary mention the role that Kamov had in designing the helicopter?
It might be new. The early prototypes had an angled fin where the rear landing is. New ones have the horizontal cut.

However some still carry the original PNVS/TVDS installed on the prototypes but are powered by WZ-9 turboshafts. This version (Z-10H? S/N 9521xx) also features additional equipment such as an IR jammer (?) installed on the cockpit roof.
