Nice pics, would like to see WZ-16 soon upgraded, because that would be an important step to actually finish an upgrade package which would include IR suppressors and software optimization for weaponary and sensors, since some of the sensors like MAWS are affected by the exhaust gases. Further it would justify a relocation of budget to give it more progress in other fields like integration of suites similiar to Vitebsk with DIRCM it is certainly necessary for todays MANPADS/SAM's.

It says a upgraded WZ-9H engine has 1100-1200kw output.

so it seems WZ-9H is an interim solution before WZ-16 available ?

100 - 200 kW extra is quite significant, 10- 20%! ... I'd love to have extra 20% power on my car

As it stands PAA is impressed with this machine don't think issue has came up

Fact that they displayed it on 23rd March suggest a follow on order is due soon

No question that improvements and upgrades are probably suggested specific to Pakistans needs

Let's hope a order is sent for 60+ plus helos but most likely be in 20 unit instalments

Hind can carry troops and Viper is very heavily armed but Z10 gives best bang off the buck

If the Z-10 receives WZ-16 engines in due time, it would be able to mount a MMW radar (similar to that of the AH-64D Longbow), additional optics/sensors, better armor, and a full complement of AKD-10 missiles and/or rockets.

Pakistan could be waiting for that instead.

The upgraded engine has been planned for a while and I'm sure they have been planning other upgrades too. The only question now is what is the upgraded power like. I certainly think the stated 10 to 20% is possible.

It is highly doubtful that the WZ-9 engines are to weak to mount a 300kg MMW radar. The concerns are more of the disc rotor load which is among the highest and a usually high load of disc is effecting flight performance, maneuverability, stress on the rotors and all parts of the rotor head get higher stressload aswell climbing ratio is affected by it. They will probably need at some point to rearrange rotors but atleast it has 5 blades it helps to some extent.

Where did you get the data, and how trustworthy are they? If the WS-9 didn't lack power, why are there so many reports it does? Don't forget some of those reports were authored by respected posters on SDF.
