Jihad terror. I suspected this from the beginning. Fits the profile.

I believe their car was rigged to explode like the car bombs we have seen so often in so many other places, but failed to detonate as they desired.

The death and injury occurred as they were driving over people to get to the spot they wanted to blow it up.

Glad they got the accomplices. The Chinese will have squeezed every drop of G2 out of them that they can...and they will not be gentle about it. Nor should they be. When you have this large a group operating in a major population center, your capitol no less, you cannot afford to be "civil," with them. This could be an act of a low profile terrorists group that has no intel on them by the MSS or by any other intelligence services. Since the police has arrested 5 suspects believe to be in connection to this case, you can bet the MSS will start learning the perpetrators ways of operations, communication, and info gathering.

This incident only has political implications because of the nature of the perpetrators. However, there are terrorist-like attacks happening in China all the time. I would guess that various parties are nervous about China and Turkey getting too chummy in general and would like to try and turn Turkish popular opinion against the deal in particular.

By timing it isn't in response to the SAM sale to Turkey (it's not even have a contract signed yet), but directed at the upcoming CCP party conference in November. Through this attack, some suspect the Xinjiang policy will take a U-turn from its current moderate stance back to the hardline stance, which, as we all know, help fester support for insurgents.

Something weird is going on with the reports on that I have to check it but one report has the people in the car being a family. A husband his wife and mother in law. That does not fit a terrorist profile. Nor that of a suicide bomber. I am checking on it has I only heard the report on the radio in passing.

okay so according to the AP the people in the car were a a husband his wife and either his or her mother. This is odd as it does not conform to the classic suicide bomber. As they tend to be clinically depressed suicidal individuals lured into the act with the promise of paradise for there martyrdom. To be honest alot about the attack seems a little of the mark. I mean terrorist couldn't give a flying .... For symbolic attacks they want body count. The west gate was text book terrorism a enclosed shopping mall, lots of people few exits. The forbidden city although a tourist trap is to open and if you wanted to attack the Chinese why hit a tourist trap? Your more likely to end up like what happened lots of non Chinese. Its amateur. The whole thing seems off.
