Well the same idiots who make a living telling bad jokes about the misfortune of others and making fun of the less fortunate, are supported by the bigger idiots who think that stuff is funny, more sad proof that the American public, Mits 47%, really are losing brain cells at an astounding rate. My sincere apologies to you Sino Soldier, and all the fine Chinese citizens who are "working hard" to make the world a better place, you're absolutely right, it is beyond sad, it is tragic, I'd go as far as to diagnose our national psyche as paranoid schizophrenic! brat

I looked it up you are correct they stopped live airing its taped at 4:30 pst that's 830 Est an hour long means roughly wrap at 530 PSTgive or take that's 930 EST that means it has 2hours for editing as it has to be on the air in the ABC New York affiliate at 11:35PM EST that's not a lot of time for set up and edit.
what was he supposed to do? Yelling at the kid would have resulted in four whaling brats. Disney would have given him walking papers before he ever knew what hit him. Lectures would have caused parents groups to go after him. And killed his ratings. The reaction
" that's.. Interesting."
was his safest course of action. It was both "these are not my kids to discipline" well also being dismissive and he then followed up by pointing out the most simplistic flaw with the Childs logic. He then wrapped it up with "Lord of the Flies" a literary reference to a book about children who loose there way and become violent.
he asked a six year old a loaded adult question and got a six year olds answer.
The snot nosed brat probably can't even spell genocide let alone have any idea its meaning.
so you move to the adult. Jimmy Kimmel. He's a comedian, a good chunk of his career's based on offense. You want offensive watch south park. American comedians have a long historical bedrock based on jokes that could be viewed as offensive particularly in the late night time slot. does that represent Disney? Doubtful they probably have a disclaimer in the credits stating the standard "the views and opinions represented in the preceding program do not necessary represent the views and opinions of the Walt Disney corporation or its ABC entertainment and affiliated television networks, stations... Ecta... Ecta..."
being in the late night time slot it is considered okay to break out the cable ready jokes. Because an adult audience is considered. An audience who would normally dismiss the statement of a sugar loaded six year old as just another wtf did he just say?!
now argument over. If you feel offended good for you I suggest you stay away from six year olds and get rid of your tv and mobile devices because eventually something is going to offend.

yeah Kimmel is definitely to blame.. it's one thing after that kid first mentioned it but Kimmel followed up a few minutes later by leading them on asking if it's ok to kill all the chinese etc. that one is all on him.
Ironically that one girl there looks to be of Asian descent.. maybe even Chinese and she was all about killing all the Chinese too. Kids do say the darnest things but for the adult to lead them on like that...there should be no excuse even as an exercise in comedy.

Suspected 3D-printed gun found in Manchester gang raid, say police

Officers analyse 3D printer and suspected components in what's thought to be first ever seizure of next generation weapon

Police have seized components for what could be the UK's first ever 3D-printed gun in what they called a "really significant discovery".

Greater Manchester police said they believed the parts represented the next generation of firearms, which could be created by gangs in the privacy of their homes and smuggled with ease because they could avoid X-ray detection.

The gun parts were discovered, along with a 3D printer, when officers executed warrants in the Baguley area of the city on Thursday.

Officers found what were thought to be a plastic magazine and trigger which could be fitted together to make a viable gun. They said the haul also included a quantity of gunpowder.

The parts are now being forensically examined by firearms specialists to establish if they could construct a working device. If so, it would be the first seizure of its kind in the UK, police said.

The raid was part of Challenger, the largest ever multi-agency operation to target organised crime in Manchester.

Detective Inspector Chris Mossop, of Challenger's organised crime co-ordination unit, said: "This is a really significant discovery for Greater Manchester police. If what we have seized is proven to be viable components capable of constructing a genuine firearm, then it demonstrates that organised crime groups are acquiring technology that can be bought on the high street to produce the next generation of weapons.

"In theory, the technology essentially allows offenders to produce their own guns in the privacy of their own home, which they can then supply to the criminal gangs who are causing such misery in our communities. Because they are also plastic and can avoid X-ray detection, it makes them easy to conceal and smuggle."

He added that more work was needed to understand the scale of the problem.

"I would strongly urge anyone who has information about the whereabouts of a gun in their community to call us."

There have been suggestions on some websites that the parts were not gun components but printer parts – a spool holder and a drive block. Police said they were still concerned about the finding because they suspected the parts may have other uses.

A police spokesperson said: "We are aware of this suggestion, and it would be easier if it was cut and dried as to what these items are. But when you take it as a whole, including the discovery of gunpowder, it is disturbing."

A man has been arrested on suspicion of making gunpowder and remains in custody for questioning.

The technology works by allowing anyone who has a 3D printer – which can be bought on the high street for about £1,200 – to download designs for guns or components. The printers squirt molten plastic to produce 3D shapes of whatever design has been downloaded. The model parts can then be converted to become a firearm capable of firing bullets.

well if it was not 3D printed it would have been smuggled or built out of junk.

LOL come on there is absolutely no need for you to apologize to me! :D

We all know that these talk shows usually cater to casual adults who are looking for a laugh rather than some serious in-depth political discussion. So I certainly don't feel offended and frankly I think the media is blowing this way out of proportion.

Honestly speaking the Chinese have had their share of big-mouth idiots as well (such as the general who said China should start WWIII if US attacks Iran).

I have a deep suspicion that the government is going to place severe restrictions on the commercial availability of these printers. Even if they are limited to corporate usage, some will still find their way to the black market.

Indeed, there is no reason for Air Force Brat to apologize for anything to anyone related to this event.

The fault is with Jimmy Kimmel, along with ABC and the parent company Disney which profited.

Hit them where it hurts, their profit.

Wow, so much wrong with that post.

Firstly, you bring out this 'not my child to teach' idea, which is a rather novel way to turn a blind eye. Perhaps you never heard of a little saying that goes something like this, 'all that is needed for evil to triumph is for good men to watch and do nothing'. But your point isn't really even applicable because this wasn't some random kid shouting out in a restaurant or park. He, or his producers handpick those kids for his show, and he was the adult responsible for those kids at that time. So he would have been well within his rights (even legally speaking as the parents of those kids would have had to sign all sorts of permission papers for their kids to be on the show) to tell that child in no uncertain terms that the view he expressed is not acceptable just the same way he most certainly would have if that kid swore or picked a less ok target.

Secondly, your cost benefit analysis is clearly not applicable unless you are implying that this was a staged event, because in the second and a half between when the kid made his comment and when Jimmy made his response, there was no way he could have gone through all that in his head.

If that really was a case of a kid being a kid, then the reaction is exactly that, and very telling about the personal viewpoint of the person. I would dare say he would not have made such a bland comment had the kid expressed anti-black or god for it, anti-Semitic sentiment.

But even if your arguement of him going through the process and picking the option that would cause him the least trouble is true, that in itself is pretty damning as you are basically acknowledging the exact point many people have made which you seem to scoff at - that in America, racism against Chinese isn't really all that unacceptable and may even score you brownie points with a disturbingly large segment of American society.

Lastly, you have repeated the most absurd and ridiculous mantra of free speech fanatics by suggesting that it is somehow the fault of those who are offended that they take offense from things said by people who go out of their way to cause offence because that's what they do for a living.

It is the goal and mission of these people to cause offense, but its the fault of the people who are offended by them for taking offense? How does that even make any sense? If I got out with a baseball bat and smash up a load of cars in the street, is it the fault of the car owners for parking their cars there?

The free speech fanatics are a lot like the gun lobby in that they will defend their 'rights' with the zeal of religious fundamentalists and refuse to give even an inch, no matter how sensible the suggestion, because they're irrationally convinced that giving up even the smallest bit of ground on their holy crusade will lead to a domino effect that will somehow end up with them living in the 1984 fictional world before they can say a hellmarry. All the while, they both display an almost complete disregard for the people who end up suffering because of their 'rights'.

2nd worker dies in north Mexico factory blast

Oct 25, 2013 5:56 PM EDT

A second worker injured in an explosion inside a candy factory in the border city of Ciudad Juarez died Friday at a hospital, authorities said.

The 18-year-old man died while being treated for third degree burns, said government health system spokesman Rosendo Gaytan.

Another 33 workers remain hospitalized, six of them in critical condition, he said.

The blast Thursday on the second floor of the Dulces Blueberry factory caused the floor to collapse, injuring people working downstairs.

The factory, which employs 300 people, produces gummy bears, jelly beans, peach rings and other sweets that are sent to El Paso, Texas, across the border from Ciudad Juarez.

The cause of the blast hasn't been determined, said Ciudad Juarez Mayor Enrique Serrano. Workers said a steam boiler had been installed recently in the area, which smelled of acid hours before the explosion.

Firefighters and rescue crews didn't find any more victims inside the building after searching it late into the night Thursday, city officials said. Workers' relatives, however, say one employee is unaccounted for.

Worker Jose Gonzalez said the explosion was so strong it threw him against a wall.

"When I felt the explosion, I flew and landed against a wall," Gonzalez said. "There was a hole on the wall and I ran out through it. I went back in because I heard people crying and screaming."

Gonzalez said he saw one of his co-workers with both legs broken and another with burns on his face.

Manuel Lopez arrived at the factory as the explosion happened. He had gone there to visit his father who worked there.

"Everything came flying out, even the walls," Lopez said. "The fire was really strong but I still went in and helped."

Ciudad Juarez is a manufacturing hub and the assembly plants there employ many of its residents
29 years later, Cuba hijacker wants to go home

Oct 25, 2013 5:14 PM EDT

William Potts burned with the desire to change the world. Nothing really turned out the way he planned.

Dreaming of joining the struggle to uproot global oppression, he dropped out of college, became a Muslim and went to join the Namibian freedom movement. He got stuck in Liberia, half a continent away.

So he returned to the United States and in 1984 he concealed a .25-caliber pistol in a plaster cast and hijacked a plane to Cuba, among the last in a flood of dozens of self-styled revolutionary hijackings. To Potts' surprise, Cuban authorities didn't offer him guerrilla training. He was convicted of air piracy and imprisoned for more than 13 years.

Now, 29 years after he changed into a black beret and leather jacket in a plane bathroom and hijacked more than 100 people on their way from Newark to Miami, Potts is optimistic that he'll soon be heading home. He said Friday that U.S. officials in Cuba are processing a passport application he submitted earlier in the week and they have told him it could be completed in a matter of weeks.

While he faces virtually certain arrest upon return, he said he believes that the time he served in Cuba will allow him to avoid a lengthy second jail term.

"Some people believe I should spend the rest of my life behind bars, but that's not my position. I was sentenced in a recognized court of law to fifteen years in prison. I did the crime, I did the time," Potts said. "I don't expect to pay two times for a crime I already paid 15 years for."

Potts said going home will help him move beyond what he acknowledges was a mistake that put dozens of passengers' lives at risk and separated him from his brothers, sisters and parents in the U.S. in a way that's increasingly painful as he ages.

Prosecutors in Florida, where Potts was also indicted for air piracy, did not respond to requests for comments on his case. The U.S. Interests Section in Cuba declined to comment on the specifics of the case, but noted that "through our missions overseas, U.S. citizens traveling or residing overseas are accorded a full range of passport services."

Cuba has granted political refugee status, along with free housing, health care and other benefits, to dozens of fugitives like Potts, many black militants and other leftists who fled here from the U.S. in the '60s and '70s. Many are believed to remain in Cuba, including several who are among the U.S. most-wanted fugitives.

The U.S. and Cuba signed a 1971 agreement under which each government agreed to prosecute hijackers or return them to the other country. Periodic tensions with Washington have pushed Cuba to suspend the deal several times, but the communist government stopped giving new arrivals sanctuary in 2006, returning a handful Americans who fled to avoid prosecution in recent years. The U.S. still labels Cuba a state sponsor of terrorism, largely because of its sheltering fugitives.

"They accuse Cuba of harboring terrorists," Potts said. "I happen to be a terrorist who wants to go back to face the charges pending against me."

Potts, 56, said he was buoyed by the case of a fellow hijacker who returned to the U.S. and saw a long sentence reduced because of time served in Cuba.

It's far from clear that Potts has correctly assessed his legal options.

Other fugitives returning from Cuba have been aggressively prosecuted. U.S. citizen Luis Armando Pena Soltren returned to the United States from Cuba in October 2009 to face charges of conspiracy to commit air piracy, interfering with a flight crew and kidnapping in a case linked to Puerto Rican independence militants.

Pena Soltren pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Potts lives in a modest two-bedroom apartment with a neatly kept front garden in a Cold War-era apartment block on the outskirts of Havana. He's divorced from the mother of his two children, a math professor, but they still live together and consider themselves married.

The U.S. Interests Section in Cuba gave passports to their daughters, 12 and 9, last year and Potts sent them to live with his family in the Atlanta area. His older daughter is named after Assata Shakur, aunt of slain rapper Tupac Shakur, and a member of the Black Liberation Army who was serving life in prison when she was broken out by armed friends, surfacing in Cuba in 1984. She is believed to remain a free woman here and Potts has reported seeing her at events in Havana.

He said he's still hopeful about changing the world, even though his previous attempts went wrong. He's now hoping to raise money in the U.S. to start a Muslim community farm in Cuba.

"I'm not the same person I was," Potts said. "The time has come to bring this thing to an end. I know it's a risk (to go back to the US), but it's a necessary risk. I'm hoping that something good can come of this."

I'm surprised this story hasn't had more play in the mainstream news.

I read some story where I think it was one of the intelligence chiefs who was taking calls in public on a train talking about the NSA (I think some of the calls were to reporters too) and someone sitting nearby was tweeting what he was saying. There was some quote blaming "admin." Not sure if that was referring to the White House. Now today Obama is claiming he knew nothing of what the NSA was doing until recently. I wonder if that's a counter. He knew nothing for five years as President?
