Us Geological survey has issued tsunami warning for Fukushima area prediction is one meter which may not seem like much but when you are the home to the damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant that could be a disaster.
See map for epicenter of event.

This is disgusting to say the least. I bet if the skit were to mention any other race or ethnic groups they would not have dare air it on t.v. I like how conniving they are by having one little Asian girl in the skit as if to suggest it is ok to say those things.

While this is big news in Chinese speaking communities worldwide, not just mainland China, note the silence and the lack of coverage in the American media.
Even BBC is covering it now.

See Shen, this would be a big deal except you see no one actually watched the Jimmy Kimmel show. No one does except it seems the the Chinese newspapers. Of course there are two other factors here one the American constitution grants the right to free speech, basically assuring Jimmy the right to make a complete ass of himself. But don't worry he will as they always do make a apology. But if you still feel offended write to Disney they own his arse.
mean time American news cycles can only really cover one and a half stories. So between the middle east burning, the Obama signature healthcare program's stillbirth, the earthquake, and after taste of the government shutdown Jimmy makes page nine snippet at best.

No reports of damage after 7.3 magnitude earthquake hits Japan
Published October 25, 2013 | Associated Press
ADVERTISEMENT
TOKYO – An earthquake of magnitude 7.3 struck early Saturday off Japan's east coast, the U.S. Geological Survey said, and Japan's emergency agencies issued a tsunami advisory for the region that includes the crippled Fukushima nuclear site.

Tsunamis of up to 15 inches were reported at four areas along the coast, but the advisory was lifted less than two hours after the quake.

There were no immediate reports of damage on land. Japanese television images of harbors showed calm waters. The quake hit at 2:10 a.m. Tokyo time about 170 miles off Fukushima, and it was felt in Tokyo, some 300 miles away.

"It was fairly big, and rattled quite a bit, but nothing fell to the floor or broke. We've had quakes of this magnitude before," Satoshi Mizuno, an official with the Fukushima prefectural government's disaster management department, told The Associated Press by phone. "Luckily, the quake's center was very far off the coast."

Mizuno said the operator of the troubled Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant, Tokyo Electric Power Co., said no damage or abnormalities have been found so far. The plant was severely damaged in a 2011 earthquake and tsunami and has been shaken by a series of more minor tremors since then.

Mizuno also confirmed that several plant workers near the coast preparing for a typhoon were ordered to evacuate to higher ground.

Japan's meteorological agency issued a 3-foot tsunami advisory for a long stretch of Japan's northeastern coast, and it put the quake's magnitude at 7.1. The U.S. Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not post warnings for the rest of the Pacific.

The agency reported tsunamis of 40 centimeters in Kuji city in Iwate prefecture and Soma city in Fukushima, as well as a 20-centimeter tsunami at Ofunato city in Iwate prefecture and a 30-centimeter tsunami at Ishinomaki in Miyagi prefecture.

All but two of Japan's 50 nuclear reactors have been offline since a March 2011 magnitude-9.0 earthquake and ensuing tsunami triggered multiple meltdowns and massive radiation leaks at the Fukushima plant, about 160 miles northeast of Tokyo. About 19,000 people were killed in the disaster.

A string of mishaps this year at the Fukushima plant has raised international concerns about the operator's ability to tackle the continuing crisis.

Worried Japanese regulators met with Tokyo Electric officials this week to discuss how to prepare for a typhoon that could dump heavy rain on Fukushima on Saturday. And Nuclear Regulation Authority Chairman Shinichi Tanaka has scheduled a Monday meeting with Tokyo Electric's president to seek solutions to what he says appear to be fundamental problems.
So far so good.

Freedom of Speech.
We can get into a long discussion about how almost every countries include freedom of speech in their constitution (including China), and how all these countries have defined limitations to freedom of speech depending on their unique history and circumstance (including the United States). But that would probably be the wrong discussion for this forum (how ironic).
Suffice to say, speech over public air wave is certainly not free. Show some titties and see how fast the FCC comes down on your ass.

I don't feel offended personally. But if anyone is troubled by children joking about genocide and joking about murder as a solution to owing too much debt over public broadcast television, they should do something about it.

During the Oct. 16 episode of ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," host Kimmel held a "kids table" segment on the government shutdown. And the segment has now raised all sorts of problems.
Kimmel posed this question to four kids: "America owes China a lot of money, $1.3 trillion. How should we pay them back" he asked.

Right away, one child suggests "killing everyone in China."

Kimmel laughed off the comment, joking "that's an interesting idea."

He returned to the point later asking "should we allow the Chinese to live?" The boy who had suggested all the Chinese be killed in the first place, stuck to his answer.

Kimmel wrapped up saying "this has been an interesting edition of Kids Table: The Lord of the Flies edition."

But not everyone took it as lightly.

Some in China were offended by the sketch, while others are non-plussed. From Shanghaiist.com:

The clip is creating buzz on Weibo as well, with some users writing that the skit was in bad taste and that "Chinese are probably the only people that the U.S. mainstream media are free to publicly insult".

Other users, however, felt that Kimmel meant no intentional harm and that "people should not be too serious" about the moppy-haired little boy's comments.

There has also been a petition to the White House asking that the show be investigated. The petition stated that " It is extremely distasteful and this is the same rhetoric used in Nazi Germany against Jewish people." It also asks that ABC "cut the show and issue a formal apology." The petition has already gathered 26,524 signatures and needs 73,476 more by Nov. 18.

A thumbnail for the segment is still up on ABC though the video appears to have been removed. The entire segment can however be viewed online by watching the full Oct. 16 episode.

Nobody is blaming the six year old. Out of four kids on the show, when asked what we should do about our debt, not one said the normal obvious answer "we should pay the debt". Isn't it obvious that they were coached to give what the show thinks are funny answers? The troubling part is that Kimmel and Disney apparently think genocide is funny, and teaching kids to joke about genocide is appropriate. And we wonder why there is so much school shootings? Is media culture the problem or gun?

The program is live which in modern times means there is only like a 3second delay between what is said and what is aired.
the question asked was about the American debts to China. So a six year old loaded up on sugar with live cameras on him responded with a six year olds logic. Because the program is adult oriented they allowed it knowing that it was just that. And if you watch the video the Asian girl sitting next to the "Kill'em" boy was agreeing. It was one of those kids say the darn'dest things moments and Disney will no doubt issue a apology and statement that the program did not reflect its views but hardly worth the hubbub if I got on live tv and asked some hyper active sugarcane addicted six year old about the American dept to Germany or the problems in the middle east and asked what to do about it, I bet the brat would say the same.

I'm not sure the show is live.

I wish you can watch the whole segment, but ABC made the clip private on youtube. Wonder what they got to hide. The little girl is actually saying no while smiling, weird I know.
But Kimmel's response to the kill them all suggestion was just "that is interesting".

and guess what, yep, Kimmel is pro gun control.

making fun of anti gun control groups there.

so guns are evil, but joking with six year old that killing is the solution out of your debt problem is ok.

I saw it when it aired on TV. I have to wonder since the SCMP is based in Hong Kong if they're just being tabloid. It's a kid! When the kid said it, the audience laughed more out of shock he said it not because they agreed with the statement. Not surprising to hear an American kid say such a thing in general and not because of some anti-Chinese opinion. Yeah kids can be unabashedly racist because they do see just physical differences more than anything. This is more an indictment of this kid's environment he lives in. If the SCMP was smart, that's what they would write about. What is the SCMP expecting? Jimmy Kimmel to apologize? I've been watching Jimmy Kimmel from the beginning his show started and I can say Jimmy Kimmel himself has a low opinion of most of the non-white non-Westernized world. Early on in the beginnings of his show, he called India and China disgusting countries. His former girlfriend was Sarah Silverman who had some controversy saying in a joke on TV where she said hated Chinese just to get out of jury duty and used the excuse that Mongols raped her ancestors. And she turned the controversy into more fame.
