The JMSDF constanly operates with the US Navy.
Pacific Ocean (March 22, 2006) - A Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) H-60J helicopter carrying Destroyer Squadron Nine, Commodore, Capt. Jeff Harley, lifts off from the flight deck aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), during a passing exercises (PASSEX). Lincoln, Carrier Strike Group Nine and the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force are currently conducting an officer exchange program as part of PASSEX. PASSEX demonstrates the U.S. Navy’s ability to work with forces in the region to carry out combined operations


Pacific Ocean (March 23, 2006) - Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) JDS Hatakaze (DDG 171), JDS Kirishima (DDG 174), Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), guided-missile destroyer USS Stethem (DDG 63) and JDS Harusame (DD 102) sail in formation during a passing exercise

US Army in action!

Soldiers from the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division secure the landing zone after exiting a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter from the 101st Airborne Division, during a hunt for insurgents and weapons caches in the Al Jazeera Desert of Iraq.

Pacific Ocean (March 25, 2006) - Sailors move supplies on the flight deck aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) as the guided-missile destroyer USS Stethem (DDG 63) comes along side during an underway replenishment.


This was one of my jobs while working on the flight deck on the USS Hancock CVA-19 in 1975.

Mediterranean Sea (Oct. 7, 2005) – A United Kingdom Royal Navy HMA 8 Lynx helicopter flies near the U.S. Sixth Fleet flagship USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20) in the Mediterranean Sea during exercise Destined Glory (Loyal Midas) 2005


Indian Ocean (Sept. 25, 2005) – The Indian aircraft carrier CVH Viraat (R 22) underway in the Indian Ocean as part of exercise Malabar 2005. The exercise is designed to increase interoperability between the two navies while enhancing the cooperative security relationship between India and the United States.


A group of Chilean Navy special warfare members participate in a Maritime Interdiction Operation drill while underway with the Chilean frigate BACH Almirante Williams (FF 19) during PANAMAX 2005.
