Are all the Baltic nations region moving from the once AK-47 rifles replaced by the NATO 5.56 standard rounds rifles?
I think the pro-NATO ones are probably undergoing this phase right now. But the pro-Russia ones are probably adhering to the old standards, maybe just upgrading their guns to new Russian standards.
Thanks Vini.
No problem.
It's funny if you look at it, it's almost like the Bluray Vs HD DVD stand-off, or the VHS Vs Beta stand-off. They are fundamentally the same thing, just having slight variations. Modern infantry weapons are no longer that important. Even it still was, style of bullets won't make that big of a difference anymore. These days most casualties are caused by big howitzers and aerial dropped bombs. If you look at the cause of death for Iraqi insurgents, rarely any of them are actually killed by a rifle round.
True, but for close range fighting and urban warfare the rifles are still needed. I mean somebody has to make some noise to cause a ruckus. Then you locate your enemy's position and call in for fires.
i'm surprised with how well equipped the Latvians are
Danes, Swedes or Norwegians sure, but Latvia? aren't they some tiny country next to Russia
it pains me to see how well geared they are compared to China's
Those are full time Latvian infantry units, so they required a lot more sophisticated equipment, communication gear, and weapons. I'm sure China infantry unit is the same as well and it also depends on the types of mission that the infantry is conducting.
