Australia - Exercise Eagle’s Run 2011

Personnel from the 2nd Cavalry Regiment mounted their ASLAVs (Australian Light-Armoured Vehicles) and are currently conducting a regimental exercise in the Mt Bundey training area, south of Darwin, to fine-tune their war-fighting skills. Dubbed “Eagle’s Run”, the 2nd Cavalry Regiment is using the exercise to build the capability of its ASLAV crews to ensure the unit is ready to deploy on operations with the rest of 1st Brigade from late-2012.

the ASLAV is a variant of the MOWAG Piranha 8x8 wheeled vehicle, in particular the same version used by the USMC Although the Ausies had it fitted with a Air Conditioner set. ASLAV comes in a number of variants as with the LAV and packs the same Bushmaster and m240 in the turret. Piranha 8x8 is a very popular vehicle other users include the US ARMY ( stryker), The Swiss, Japanese, the Romanians, Sweden, Denmark, Ireland, Spain, Canada and Belgium. just too name a few.
