on the third picture of the ordance men's pictures, what aircraft is that with the 8-bladed propellor?

Gotta wonder, how does that SM-3 fit in there......
Sumdud, That an SH-60. It has only four rotor blades and four tail rotors. It just looks that way because the blades are moving so fast. As for the SM-3..I have no clue..I just know they go to a speical pier at a Naval weapons station to load them...More various pics later today.

Drunkhomer, nice pics from Iraq. Did you get those from army.mil?

I think Sumdud ment the pic where two guys haul a carriage full of bombs...in that picture there is a E-2 Hawkeye...but to my knowlidge and my sources states this also, it only have four-blade propellors???

Anyway that SM-3 pic is bit misleading as it is taken very close from the actual missile. Only small parts of it is exposed thus making it look like really fat and crumple.

That is an E2-C Hawkeye. I'm going to have to look that up. It certainly does appear to have more than 4 blades. Maybe there is a time laspe in the pic???

Yep, I remember after seeing the pics that during the pre-flight the crewmen spin the props to inspect them perhaps the pic was taken during this time.

At sea aboard USS George Washington (CVN 73) Captain Martin J. Erdossy, Commanding Officer of the aircraft carrier USS George Washington, conducts a pre-flight inspection of an E2-C “Hawkeye” aircraft assigned to the “Tigertails” of Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron One Two Five (VAW-125).

Sumdud wanted to know how the USN loads missiles in VLS launchers..well here's a pic..pretty simple actually.

A Crane lifts an Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile (ESSM) aboard the guided missile destroyer USS McCampbell (DDG 85). ESSM is an international cooperative upgrade of the RIM 7 NATO Sea Sparrow Missile.

Here's a pic for Gollevainen of the USMC firing a M-198 155m Howitzer.

This is how the USN dispose of most of it's old ships..it's called a SINKEX.
But the the Canadians are doing the sinking this time!!!
The decommissioned destroyer Hayler (DD 997) takes fire from a 57mm Bofors gun aboard the Canadian Halifax-class multi-role patrol frigate HMCS Ville De Quebec (F 332), during a Sink Exercise conducted 300 miles off the East Coast of the United States.
