which language is the best one in the word?

Every language is going to be difficult to learn for someone. There's also the "unofficial" cultural aspect of any language that can make it difficult. People who speak English complain that the Chinese and other East Asians have one definition but a million words to express it. While people who speak English, especially Americans, will have one word but a million different definitions. An example of both... The US submarine that crash into that Japanese fishing boat off Hawaii. Americans wondered why those involved had to do so many backflips just to say "Sorry." While on the other end, Americans will change the definition of words to suit their agenda. You especially see that in politics. It's called spin.

English is the best, because it's the most spoken in the world, and the most highly regarded as well.

GERMAN. The language of smart men such as Beethoven and Einstein.

Then comes french. its smooth and easy to learn. I get to learn it next year

Well this is my rank

Chinese
French
Japanese
English

well IMO Chinese is pretty good for expression and lots of multiple use of a single phrase due to its age

french would be second for me since A LOT of the pronounciation is standard and it is my second language which i just picked up in 3 month of time. After learning french, it is really easy to learn english even my friend agrees with that in my french class.

i would say japanese would be ranked around the same as french

I have no clue about other language since i didn't learn that much language

i say chinese and english.
chinese is actually the most spoken language in the world, after all, we got the population. english is the 2nd most spoken language ( can't count those people that "speak" english in countries like china and japan)

german is too hard, there's too much grammar rules to remember. japanese is too hard, i mean 3 different written languages.. that is just a pain to learn. i feel sorry for japanese students.

Chinese off course, no explaination needed.:)

My oldest sister had studies Japanese, and she said it is quick easy.
My other sister had study French, and she said it is very difficult.

I did took some class of German and French in middle school, but forgot what it had been taught. Personally I am never good at learning new language, so I don't have an opinions.:D

i do agree with you ,
in us many people just learn their own language(mother language),so they don't know the chinese langugage.in fact,if you grasp these language you will feel the some word is so interesting.
why the four ancient culture have disappeared, only the chinese culture is continuous.this phenomenon is worth to research, just because chinese history is centuries-old?no,because the chinese culture is so attractive, abstruse.i read a news some english people can not watch some films freely if he just was graduated from middle school ,is it ture?
why the english is used widely,i think ,because the us and england now is leading the development of science.but you know in fact the chinese conduct the science many years.we just are behind the world just one hundred years.don't forgot that the china was the orient empery.

in fact i think that chinese nation isn't flabby, sometimes, they are so strong and cruel.if you study the history of china ,you will find that there are many wars in her history.why ,beacuse the chinese have a character everyone want to be a emperor.but when he controll the country ,then they will be kind to his folk.in the ancientry, our politician claim that the ruler should be fair to every one include the minority.now in our country the minority enjoy the especial treatment and welfare.now it is so unfair to us ,haha.while because the minority live at the devious,so,they are poor.i am sympathetic to them but i am not a politician,i have no authority to do that.

i think that every person is fair, but if you are white ,maybe you will discriminate the black man.it is a diffcult to deal with it.while in the our history we meet the same problem, the ancestor encourage the people married with the minority.use the kin to unite them .haha .
back to the topic,hehe,

every language is excellent.because everyone must be faithful to your country though you dislike the bush,or 布来尔 or 胡锦涛。

that's very true, it's the reason it's such an important language today. all because of the last and current superpowers (UK and US). i remember reading somewhere that the best 6 languages to learn other than english (probably directed at a english speaker) are french, spanish, chinese, hindi, arabic, and hebrew

i don't know why hebrew is in there, but the other ones make sense.

Languages these days reflect the era of colonialism. For example Latin America doesn't really have native languages anymore except for in some isolated areas. In Northern Africa French is the "lingua franca" because the french dominated there. In Southern africa it is the same with English, as well as in India. The widespread use of English is the direct result of British predominance in the 1800s. Also, language use reflects how well a territry was governed. The British governed India quite well, and the school system they left behind produces thousands, maybe millions, of English speakers. In Mozambiqe, nobody speaks Portugeuse even though the Portugeuse ruled that nation from the 1600s until 1974. This is because they ruled it as a source for slave labor, literally for qutie a while and then later only in practice. The same goes for Belgian in the Congo. So we can say that the distrubution of a language, if it is European, reflects the nations colonial success. If the language stayed, the colonial period probably had a positive effect on the country. If it died as soon a colonial rule ended, then the colonial period was probably negative.

The main exception to this rule would be Latin America. Spanish and Portugeuse completely replaced native languages, but not because the Spanish and Portugeuse had a positive impact. It was simply because so many Indians died that their culture could not be perserved.
