I never heard someone swearing in cantonese, but english sure is one lame language for real cursing and swearing...I mean the words are just not powerfull enough...

?! I don't know about Japanese (And how'd they get it? Golly doesn't look...like an Asian.......then again, neither do the Turks (no offence))
But Korean? I will have to say no to that. Korean and Chinese are just too closely related.

One weird mutation that I find funny though, is Singlish. It doesn't even sound like English..... It doesn't even sound like a Chinese attempting to speak English sometimes either. (no offence)

I would say watch out Chinese, because soon people are just going to go with English as it is easier and simpler to use with computers. It is amazing it hasn't happened already. I think English has at least in theory overtaken Chinese in being the most popular language in number of countries when you consider how many different countries speak it. As for French, most French have learnt English as a second language from my understanding. Although they never seem to like to use it. Snobs! PS. I am talking about the French in Paris. I don't know about elsewhere in European France.

I think you got it backwards? Chinese (At least Mandarin) has the most speakers in the world, however English is used and taught in the most countries around the world. Go to an international airport anywhere and you will be hard pressed to find one without some English definition. While Simplified Chinese is catching up in this aspect, you will probably be hard pressed to find someone that disagrees that English is the most useful language to learn.

it will be such a pity if the chinese written language is forsaken in favor of another language. I think it should be the other way around, chinese should be the standard language (written form) as oppose to english. Since its non alphabetical, it can be adapted for alot of spoken language like the way the Korean and Japanese had done. This way, everyone can have a common written system without actually change their spoken language.

btw, i think mandarin as the spoken language is way easier to learn when compared to englilsh, the grammar is practically nonexistent when you considered all the stupid tenses that english and other western language have (french is probably the worst of all).
