I have absolutely no problems with Chen's family and friends doing all they can to flee Thailand and to free Xie Yang. It's natural and expected. I'd do the same for my family, friends, and myself.
I save my vitriol for neocons and liberal interventionists hiding behind "human rights" for their own ends. These people employ selective outrage over human right abuses in some countries, while saying little or nothing in others. They cry rivers of crocodile tears over governmental oppression, but their real aim isn't to promote human rights, but to game the system for regime change, even if it's not clear if regime change is, on balance, best for American interests. Their malfeasance also discredit honest human rights activists and ultimately make their important work harder.
