That mission of ECM was given solely to the USN and USMC some years ago. The Warthog is for CAS(Close Air Support)

HELMAND PROVINCE, Afghanistan - Sgt. Mathew Cummings, a UH-1Y Huey crew chief with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 369, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward), fires a GAU-17 mini gun on a range outside Camp Bastion Sept. 3. The Huey crew made the range run after flying a mission to provide aerial reconnaissance for Marines from 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines. HMLA-369 also provided overwatch while the unit moved through a densely-populated area in Southern Helmand province.

In the photo of the Marines training the Guatemalan Special Forces Kaibilies (who are, by the way, bad bad dudes, they're accused of all sorts of human rights violations and are often recruited by drug cartels, or at least used to be), why are Marines wearing helmets like those worn by CVN deck crews?
Because they've been flying in that helo in the photo. Those helmets offer great sound protection.
I figured, but I've seen lots of pictures of Marines disembarking from helos and never seen headgear like that. I guess it's just an one-time thing
