Why exactly was there a need to specify this person's place of birth? Is she in the Chinese military as part of some exchange program with the US military?

Why exactly was there a need to specify this person's place of birth? Is she in the Chinese military as part of some exchange program with the US military?

I doubt shes on some sort of exchange program . She's either a US citizen or a legal resident alien. That's the only way a person can serve in the US Armed forces.

The US DoD has long been stating where sailors, soldiers, Marines and Airmen are from.. Check back in this thread and you shall see.

They did stop using names for about three years after 09.11.2001.

U.S. Army Spc. Russell Altman, with Provincial Reconstruction Team Kapisa, enjoys the view from the gunners hatch of his Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle while traveling through the Surobi district of Afghanistan. The PRT routinely performs missions throughout Kapisa to interact and engage with local leaders. The PRT's mission is to stabilize the region by enabling local governments to care for, educate, employ and protect their people through the construction of basic infrastructure and mentorship.
