One question, why Admiral Pace didn't salute to Japanese? We all know he saluted to Chinese. What is the general term of this?

Re: US Military pic thread

szbd, I cannot see your picture. Only a little red x.

I'm sure he did salute the Japanese. In fact I have a picture of him saluting. Perhaps the photographer did not publish the picture or missed that shot. Alos in the two pics below he his passing in review. When he past the Japanese flag I know he saluted it as the flag is (dipped) lowered which is a signal of a returned salute.

1) Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff U.S. Marine Gen. Peter Pace executes a pass and review of Japanese soldiers while visiting the Japanese Ministry of Defense in Tokyo, March 21, 2007. Defense Dept. photo by U.S. Ait Force Staff Sgt. D. Myles Cullen

2) Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff U.S. Marine Gen. Peter Pace and his Japanese counterpart, ADM Takashi Saito, salute during the playing of the Japanese and American national anthems during a pass and review ceremony of Japanese soldiers while visiting the Japanese Ministry of Defense in Tokyo, March 21, 2007.
