WHITEBEACH OKINAWA, Japan (Sept. 26, 2009) Landing Craft Utility (LCU 1627) transports personnel assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (31st MEU) and logistic equipment to the amphibious dock landing ship USS Tortuga (LSD 46). LCU 1627 is assigned to Assault Craft Unit 1 will embark Tortuga during deployment. Tortuga is part of Denver Amphibious Ready Group and is scheduled to participate in three bilateral exercises throughout the western Pacific Ocean.
