US Military Pictures & Videos

Here are some pictures you will not see very often...if ever again.

During Cope Taufan 14, which is an exercise in Malaysia, on June 18, 2014, a formation of U.S. Air Force and Royal Malaysian air force aircraft formed up and flew together.

Not too often you see an F-22 Raptor, an SU-30MKM, a Mig-29N, an F-15C, a F/A-18, and a BAE Hawk flying together now is it?

Feast your eyes:

Almost a flight of all-stars. Just replace the Mig and BAE with Rafale, Typhoon, and pretty much as invincible as it can get. Hell even throw in a J-20 and PAK-FA

Yeah like 40 or 50 years from now when the current crop of 5th gen fighters get replace by the 6th or 7th gen fighters and drones.

iunno but i prefer my birds manned and not droned. top gun would make a bad movie if starring a man with a joystick in an armchair.

Blast from the past, and IMHO, the best looking and one of the most capable bombers aircraft ever built.

XB-70, Valyrie, in flight

Remeber, this baby was built in 1964...50 years ago. Think about that. She would be an asset to any nation today, and would be very advanced by many of today's capabilities...particularly if upgraded with modern sensors, countermeasures, avionics, and weapons. She cruised at over 70,000 feet, and could maintain in excess of Mach 3.

Only two were built before cancellation.

One of those prototypes, XB-70A2, crashed in 1966 when flying in a photo op with four other aircraft, all having GE engines. An F-104 was caught in a wingtip vortex from the XB-70, and flipped over onto the bomber damaging a wing and then exploding, taking out both of the XB-79s vertical stabilizers.

The F-104 pilot dies instantly. The XB-70 ultimately went into an uncontrollable flat spin. The XB-70 pilot ejected and was injured, his co-pilot was killed.

Immediately after the accident, F-104 exploded and falling off, XB-70 flying on without tails

The other XB-70 prototype, XB-70A1 continued testing until being retired in 1969.
