A summary of what this M1E3 is and is not:

This demonstrator is specifically for crew operation testing, nothing else.
That laundry list of requirements would elicit the "knock off" monicker if it was done by someone else...something something overpriced ebay Armata knock-off

Welcome, Palmer Luckney 2.0. And with an interesting last name at that.

He is also part of Thiel's harem, so it make sense, they all are overinflated ghouls.

Some noteworthy excerpts from the article:

So, TL; DR - The USN doesn't know what it wants for its next-gen major surface combatant: A missile-main DDGX (with CPS); or a gun-main DDGX (presumably with railguns). Then Trump comes along, utters "Only Kids Choose; Adults Want All", and then boom - We have Trump-class BBGs.

No wonder there was this picture of the DDGX without the 5-inch gun turret from back then:

The first unit of the Trump-class BBG is slated to cost somewhere between 15.1 billion and 22 billion USD.

For reference, the Ford-class CVNs cost about 13.3 billion USD each.

), follow on examples of the Trump BBG will cost $10-15 billion each:

Labs said weaknesses in the US shipbuilding industrial base, including skilled labor shortages and supply chain challenges, could make the eventual cost even higher. The average cost of follow-on ships could range from $10 billion to $15 billion, depending on a variety of factors, he said.

These kinds of numbers are going to be challenging to bear — if not outright nonsensical — for a warship that is expected to be equipped with 128 Mk 41 VLS cells and 12 CPS VLS cells.

In comparison, the Arleigh Burke Flight III — which is equipped with 96 Mk 41 VLS cells — costs ~$2.5 billion a piece, which the USN is already less than happy about.

According to data from Flightradar24, a U.S. Air Force F-35A fighter jet disappeared from radar screens on January 16 after issuing a distress signal in the waters near Aomori City, Japan.

The website shows that the F-35A Lightning II took off from the northern Sea of Japan, flew eastward over Japanese airspace south of Aomori, and then turned northeast. It subsequently disappeared from radar screens.

Before disappearing, the fighter jet issued code 7700, a code indicating an emergency. No further information is currently available regarding the cause of the incident or the condition of the crew.
