... The MQ-25 has a flush mounted top intake for its engine. I am sure there are many other examples of aircraft with that configuration. Do the intakes for the B-21 count? What about the B-2?
To clarify, my post (sarcastic) was related to people who criticize J-36's top mounted intake, DSI or not wasn't the issue.

Regarding your examples, I would caution to use them because they are all subsonic aircrafts. The LM proposal should be a supersonic one which needs to handle supersonic air flow and shockwave. The proposal is a CGI, what solution LM choose for the real thing is still open, either a DSI or a caret with a boundry layer gap.

Apologies. I didn't understand the history of a top mounted intake commentary so it seemed kind of strange to me.

EDIT: Unrelated, but Bell put out some new renders of the MV-75 a while back that show some differences between it and the V-280 Valor.

I feel like this might be a closer form to which the final MV-75 will take.
