Not really US Military related, but maybe military adjacent. The X-59 now has its engine installed! I think the X-59 is one of the coolest looking aircraft in existence. Reminds me of something from Star Wars...

Just...Why...?

And since you are at it, why not make the toilet carbon fiber too?.
They do make carbon fiber toilets. They cost $2,000 a pop.

I looked around for a similarly shaped Carbon fiber wash basin just to see how much one would MSRP

I think some detail is missing, A carrier sink costing a grand or more considering the number of sinks likely to be on the Ford is probably well over 100 in multiple election cycles ( first press was mentions by business insider circa 2017) .. We wouldn’t have heard the end of it by the Senate and House as Dems and GOP pols would have run on gold plated bathrooms fixtures. Then turn around and install them in their own homes.
either the weight savings allowed a cost reduction elsewhere, the Volume discount shaved the price down well below sticker shock, some safety requirements could only be meet by ir they are not actual carbon fiber but a veneer of some other material.

Please spare me the Reformist bs. The US DOD buys from the lowest bidder.

Carbon fibre components are only expensive when they are mass produced because manufacturing is labour intensive, the material cost isn't that much. For a customised sink that is a one off there probably isn't much difference in price
The inverse. Hand made is expensive or low volume is expensive for the US. Which is why low cost has been off shored commercially for years. Additive manufacturing and automation can reduce that price point.

The rest is just your usual American bashing garbage. Remember this is a military vessel and the USN has a get fit or get out policy the DOD tends to keep such. You are going to have a hard time finding someone like Major General Mao Xinyu a morbidly obese man who somehow manages to stay in uniform.

Carbon fibre not strong enough to take the weight of the average American. The toilet is made from adamantium.

But should be bomb-proof for after someone has Taco grub.

The application? The magnets were critical parts for an active combat aircraft. A sophisticated machine that may end up having to be used against the supplier.

Dreamer NX? It’s basically a toy. Easily replaceable by other such devices if the DOD decides to make the wide spread investment on buying such printers.
