Washington -

Senior US officials warn that countries around the world can no longer escape the influence of an increasingly ambitious and aggressive China.

They also said that Beijing is increasingly confident in demonstrating military power far away from its homeland.

The Director of the Intelligence Division of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command and Rear Admiral Michael Studeman said at an online conference on Tuesday (March 2): "We have a taste of what it means to be led by China or deeply influenced by China. ."

"You will find a very global and expeditionary Chinese army, and they will intervene wherever they think China's interests are threatened," he said. "Anywhere in the world, China feels that its development interests are threatened, and you will find that they will eventually send out the People's Liberation Army more and more frequently."

Staman is not the first US military official to warn of threats from China.

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has repeatedly called China a "pacing threat" to the Pentagon, meaning that China's military development pace affects the military development pace the United States must take in order to maintain its own advantages. Officials from the US Central Command also warned that China is increasingly trying to exert influence in the Middle East. The US Southern Command also expressed concern about China's activities in Central and South America.

Even U.S. President Biden is also seeking international support for his return to Beijing.

"How the United States, Europe, and Asia work together to ensure peace, defend our common values, and promote our prosperity throughout the Pacific region will be one of the most important efforts we have undertaken with consequences," he held in a video last month

However, General Staman of the US Indo-Pacific Command said Tuesday that US officials believe that based on developments in Hong Kong and Taiwan, China has established a clear model on how to seek to maintain its dominance.

"What you see is basically the strangulation of freedom and the death of autonomy," said the senior intelligence officer.

"This happens because China has smashed the dissent through structural and legal security measures, and these security measures have actually suppressed the dissent," he added. "This is China today. This is what you get."

Staman also described how China has steadily increased its pressure on Taiwan, sending drones and aircraft that he described as special missions into Taiwan’s air defense identification zone every day.

He said that the purpose of this is to make the Taiwan military feel pressured and "to establish a new normal around Taiwan through their military presence."

The United States has also seen signs of an increase in Chinese military activities around the Senkaku Islands (called the Diaoyu Islands and its affiliated islands in China) controlled by Japan. Staman said that this is a kind of "creeping presence", which aims to slowly establish control over the area and at the same time strengthen military activities in the South China Sea...

lol this coming from the US is ironic. I wonder if those hawkish policymakers there genuinely see the irony.

The PLA had plenty of opportunity to do it in Afghanistan and Pakistan and they never sent troops. Even when Chinese laborers got killed.

The Chinese government has always relied on the local countries to provide security services. As it should be. Doing it like the US does playing global police is expensive and counter productive. Just look at Afghanistan as an example.

I'd love to see the F-23 picked up as a 4th gen replacement for the F15E, or as a LR fighter bomber for the US Navy carriers to conduct LR SEAD or other stealthy recon and attack of targets of opportunity missions.
Here the documentary about the F 23. If not seen before.

Pratt & Whitney now confirms it is working on a secretive development program called Metacomet aimed at solving the problem of fielding high-speed, reusable propulsion systems at low cost.
...
The engine-maker believes its design approach, which is thought to be tailored to higher speeds above Mach 3 but below Mach 5, is simpler and more affordable because it avoids the need for pure ramjet/scramjet cycles or the complexities of mode transition to and from turbine power.
