It's been long known that the NGAD decision would be given to the Trump administration after they entered power, and we are at this stage now.

Yes, but I expected it to take longer to "reconsider" in which way to proceed ... hopefully we get now some more information and maybe even about the demonstrator(s)

At the same time, that also means Lockheed Martin gets neither NGAD nor F/A-XX. Perhaps both the USAF and USN got tired with LockMart's monopoly on 5th-gen fighters?
From what ive read they're doing NGAD in such a way that the contract winner will not be able to exercise as much monopoly power as Lockheed has done with the F-35. Lockheed owned the IP and most of the aircraft systems making them the sole contractor for a lot of things especially the software.

With NGAD they want govt to own the IP so they can compete out virtually any part of the aircraft including software, not surprising after seeing how many issues Lockheed had with F-35 software.
