This guy lmao.
Who is he talking about?

Sweetman is referring to the fact that RAAF used to operate the F-111 which gave Australia a regional strike capability that was lost with the type's retirement in 2010. The gap has been covered with JASSM and Tomahawk cruise missiles but there is little doubt that a future combat aircraft with longer legs than our current F-35s and Super Hornets would be of interest to Canberra. We’ve gone full circle with the J-20 as an F-111 sized fighterbomber saga…

Very interesting that supposedly Lockheed Martin's submission was allegedly a four engine fighter. This means that LM and Chengdu had similar ideas about what is needed for next gen aerial combat. that was on pause for being too pricey then rejected altogether. I have a feeling that Boeing's proposal will be more than just the fighter, but also includes a tanker. it makes sense since beoing produces tankers anyways. they say boeing's proposal is revolutionary, perhaps its a smaller fighter trailed by a big UAV tanker of some sort.

I find that questionable. LM has been showing off concepts for its NGAD and doing regular releases of concept art that are very consistent with twin engine designs.
