Too much time in a former Soviet Satelite can make you suspicious, I grew up in AMERICA,,,, the C-119 an old round motored work horse, R-2800s, clamshell doors for hauling equipment, the Fairchild C-123, a real dog, poor flying qualities, underpowered, just a real POS, and then he transitioned in the the C-130A about the time I was born 60 years ago.....

Four, count em Four 4,000 + shaft horsepower per, high wing, cargo ramp, pressurized cabin, abundant HORSEPOWER, hydraulically boosted controls, a super-bird that he fell in LOVE with, the only time he ever considered a change was for the C-141 Starlifter, a beautiful airplane, B-52, no way. So Lockmart was our family aeroplane company...

They are still building C-130s ACE! and they will be building F-35s when we are dead and gone Bubba! The F-35 has delivered, the Israeli's are over-achievers, with an over-achiever airplane. The first P-51 pilots in the European Theatre learned to fly their P-51s on the way to the target??? they didn't have these awesome simulators that faithfully replicated the aircraft and all of its flying qualities.

Every man, woman, boy, and girl who flies the F-35 will get out of that simulator and suit up and go flying..... its a sweetie to fly.

Finally LockMart is like Colt and Smith and Wesson, they provide the implements that made us free, and keep us free, they do deliver, perfection is the goal, very good at least are the implements of our freedom!

what's not funny though is the confidence I see when looking at the US pilots / Russian AA operators, me putting Propaganda aside and me not guessing at all who might be right / wrong about their technology, I actually find it all frightening

The 'weakest' link would be the 'man' inside. G-max would be limited to about 8 G and certain maneuvers 9Gs sustain but that will seriously compromise airframe life.
I believe that the 6th Gen is the last 'manned' aircraft generation. Past that would be drones capable of pulling almost as many GS as a missile.
I also believe 6th gen would be evolutionary improvements over the likes of the f22 and yf23 like many here think. Basically still the same stuff but improved. Improved stealth, improved avionics and major improvement in spectrum warfare.
7th .gen OTOH will be quite a monumental leap in technology. That would be something similar to what we see in Hollywood movies at this stage.

Why build an airframe that can take more than 9Gs, the B-21 is going to be a lot less robust, so the man is not necessarily the weakest link, modern combat aircraft have taken a very definitive step away from WVR combat, and in fact with the HMS and high off-bore sight missiles, there's far less reason to subject your airframe or your pilot to those forces unless absolutely unavoidable. The F-18 is certainly not a "balls to the wall" high G fighter is it, but the F-35 with the safety's off the FCS was pushed to 9.9Gs, and that makes it a hellaciously strong airplane.

As Jura notes those S-400s will be proliferating all over the SCS on every little spit of land if we don't step up now and say NO! That and that alone is reason enough for our partners to step up to the F-35. Whats scary Jura is looking at the Malaysian airliners that the "REBELS" took out in eastern Ukraine, now that gives me "chills".....

So the sixth gen must be up and ready when the next iteration of those AA become operational, because unless you are ready to deal with that first, you're done for. So these sixth gen birds absolutely must be stealthy, and must have a robust "first day" capability up front, or they are completely irrelevant.

It's always good to have assurance mentally that the plane you fly can pull off some stunts that no other have been before. Next I guess is someway to control inertia.

Here is a thought, although we do not know how to manipulate inertia we do have some idea on how to manipulate water using magnetism. Water construct about 60~70% of the human body so why not using magnetism as a safety belt to counter the force of inertia?
I believe it would be much less restrictive than a safety belt or a flying suit since it works on the molecular level.

I don't think that the sixth gen fighter will be a tame machine. I think It will be able to maneuver like raptor. And being manned optional will have the ability to take over if the human in the loop falls out of the loop.
For an Idea of what I am thinking. ( Bear with me here) In 2004 there was an episode of the Japanese Program Ghost in the shell Second gig titled "Tenteki NATURAL ENEMY"
In the Episode a future Type of JGSDF attack helicopter was launched as part of a military exercise, the Pilot of the Helicopter suffered a Stroke or heart attack in flight. The chopper was a single seat machine without a copilot so when the pilot died in flight the computer of the helicopter took over operations called in support and went into an defencive posture believing that it was under attack. it even called in a tanker to refuel itself and it's squad.
Now today fighters like the F16 for example can already autocorrect if it's computer finds the pilot has placed the aircraft in a position that may indicate they have lost control of the machine. I think that a extension of that for the future is that if the pilot has lost control of the machine in a combat situation. the Computer will take over and defend itself until it is corrected by the pilot.

You mean like some kind of High-G 'juice' injection like in the T.V. series "The Expanse"?

I can see it for future fighter-bomber types that can go up to near space, but not on fighter frame due to the large life support and technology needed inside the space of the aircraft.
