To give Trump his due the gamble paid off big time. Rare spectacular win after so many TACOs. Monroe Doctrine 2.0 is off to a good start.
I don't think the PLA will consider arresting Lai, or at least not give him much importance.
The PLA needs boots on the ground, completely crush ROCA, eradicate the DPP and KMT, and re-establish its rule, not inexplicably arrest a foreign leader for the sake of the midterm elections and leave behind a mess. Lai's life or death is not so important in the context of this total war.
I think this mode of action is very suitable for the son of a corrupt criminal in the Philippines. As for Lai, he can only get missiles as a 'surprise'.Seeing that unprecedentedly, maybe first time in history that US just walked in, kidnapped the leader of a UN-recognised state, and walked out with zero consequences. China should just throw a missile on Lai's residence and obliterate the entire political and military leadership in one minute.
In this world, diplomacy and optics dont matter. The only thing that is real, is an express missile package utterly demolishing the entire residence complex of Lai and his friends
A big win for Trump, but not necessarily for the United States. To give Trump his due the gamble paid off big time. Rare spectacular win after so many TACOs. Monroe Doctrine 2.0 is off to a good start.

Or at least enough military presence just to protect their trading routes while avoiding direct confrontation with the US. It is simply not possible to protect one's trading routes if the closest military presence they have is thousands of kilometers away. Right now, China is the largest manufacturing powerhouse, but the US has the largest military presence worldwide. Logically speaking, the US can actually leverage this advantage and hold everyone hostage while taking its sweet ass time to re-industrialize and take over China's position. Hell! They can even just resort to holding the Americas hostage and ruin China's economy without the re-industrialization part. It would be just like sanctioning and blockading a weak state. What can China do to counter any of that? I mean we keep hearing the US is about to fall every now and then, but is that really just going to happen? Remains to be seen.It is in fact in China's interest to have global military dominance.
Probably enough to tilt the votes in Republican favor during midterms.
What intel could China have provided? This was just a dozen helos and nothing out of the ordinary compared to the VTOL operations from flat tops in the last weeks and months. It really shows the difference between a superpower and a has been
Tbh China could have provided intel regarding US Military operations/preparations
Corrupt as it is, there is no way Venezuela couldn't have shot down at least one of the half a dozen helicopters that were flying around if they had Chinese intel beforehand
Such juvenile commentary lol. I really struggle to fathom how simple hard power differences are that hard to grasp for people. Venezuela is a weak state with no allies. Taiwan is a more powerful one backed by the West & Japan, and doing so would mean war in the Taiwan strait, which China is not trying to trigger yet, it's that simple. And what would even be the point of that, is Lai the only separatist in Taiwan? In this world, diplomacy and optics dont matter.
