If Zelenskyy didn't believe that a war with Russia is possible, then why other bystanders would think otherwise. Many European countries probably thinking the same thing like Zelenskyy. Even if China has prior knowledge of the war, it is highly unlikely that China could predict the scale of the war. For all we know, threatening to do it and actually doing it is two things. Russia going in like this has probably surprised many people and countries.

Not any more. See the arms supplies. Even Germany is rearming. And we all know how well a fully remilitarized and rearmed Germany goes for Russia, right?

Please, you are like a child.

There is such thing as timing. If you know even a tiny bit of military history, you will know the importance to reinforcing a force before they lost their formation. Sending in supplies AFTER formation and organization is lost, is nothing but 添油战术 (please be humble and google this term).

The point has always been to create a relative numerical superiority on the field at the time of engagement. If you just keep sending in small forces and supplies as they get spent, you will end up have a very bad cumulated attrition loss.

The WW2 China front have way too many of these type of battles. The Japanese, with their superior logistics and maneuverability will keep on moving and bring the fight to Chinese forces at the chink-in-the-armor points of their line of defense. And as they fight, the much slower Chinese forces will try to reinforce and resupply their positions from far away positions. So the reality became that eventhough in overall numbers, the cumulative number of Chinese forced engaged in this battle is much larger than the Japanese; the Chinese forces NEVER enjoyed one moment of even momentary local numerical superiority. This is called 添油战术, the worst way of fighting.

Right now, the West's so-call reinforcements and supplies is exactly the same kind of things. The come AFTER the Ukraine airforce is all lost, and AFTER the Ukrainian positions has ran out of munition and equipment has took huge damage and even lost their positions and formations. War is about organization. Once organization is lost, the supplies you throw at them will NOT automatically reinstate their combat power.

Yeah, we do. Germany tried that twice. They got demolished twice and the second time were enslaved for 50 years. They want round 3? Germany hasn't won a war since the 1870's, they're just good at dealing damage before going down.
Third time lucky! In any case, it wasn't the stupid clown car Russian peasants who stopped them any time.

The Ukrainians had the guts and mental strength. In spades.
The core of Mental strength is the discipline to cast aside confirmation bias, emotional fervor, and tentalizing wish thinking, and be able to coolly evaluate and take responsibility the Impact of one’s own actions. I don’t think Ukrainians overall have shown this. If they had, they would not have thought it courages or noble to poke a colossus next to them in the eye in the expecting that a distant giant would risk nuclear self-immolation to come save them from the consequence in some self-destructive attack of idealism.

instead they decided to become the modern day Serbia on the eve of WWI, happily risk plunging a continent into nuclear holocaust in the name of their own harebrained idealism.
