If Russia does not negotiate to lift at least some of the sanctions, then the campaign would still be a failure - Crimea was already pretty much Russian anyway, while neutral status is too vague and hard to enforce IMO. What will be the mechanics that could stop Ukraine from reneging on that, especially considering how anti-Russian the whole country became? Another war?
Just willing to be neutral at this point is so far from the Russian position there's literally no point in talking. What about the territory they lost?

At the very least Ukraine will be giving up Crimea and very likely the eastern regions. I'm sure that's what the Americans or Germans will be saying. Remember that German Naval officer that the Indians leaked last month? He knew what was up.

The problem is, I don't think that's enough for the Russians.
Depending on what is (if) agreed we will know who won and who lost. People can spin spin all they want, but the moment the text is released, we will know.

One thing to consider is that Russia has incurred massive financial costs for this invasion. Will the agreement contain something worth all of these losses?...

If true this is even worse than drinking your own kool-aid. Essentially telling green soldiers several hours before an invading a major country that they'll be welcomed as heroes and liberators... Surely someone must know the Murphy's Law in Russia, right?
It's the same story Russian POWs were telling. They got duped into thinking they were going to an exercise and once handed live ammo they were threatened to be killed if they didn't follow orders.

Now we are seeing Buryats, Dagestani's and Chechens in the fight while the Kazachs have wisely declined.

Jesus. Just stop. Russia doesn't need Belarus or Kazakh troops to do this conflict.
And Chechens are part of the Russian Federation.
You seem to think these are conscripts. They aren't. They are professional soldiers.
The idea this was an exercise in the middle of Ukraine, is simply ridiculous. The idea that a professional soldier would just threaten to walk out like that is also ridiculous.

I never thought the TB2 would've survived this long. I thought they'd be either destroyed on the ground or mopped up in the air from the get go.

I really overestimated the Russian military. It's a paper tiger on fire.

Rubbish. No country with at least a hundred nuclear warheads is currently threatened by invasion. And definitely not Russia with 6.400+
What at stake was influence which Russia was losing rapidly in Ukraine. The invasion is just a last-ditch desperate move which will cost Russia more than it gains. Imo of course.
it’s not invasion, it is threat a nuclear blackmail from the ability to deliver an difficult to counter first strike

So, do most of us, here, agree, that, despite justified grievances, this invasion was premature, executed fairly poorly, and possibly unnecessary?

Or, not!

Btw, the liveuamap server seems to be down.
