Underestimating countries is sadly a recurring theme in those days.

past behavior of taiwan’s defence minister suggest he would have made much the same loud mouthed mistakes as zelensky at critical moments.

when russian tension heightened a few days before russia actually invaded, zelensky said Ukraine must acquire nuclear weapons to deter Russia.

the wisdom of saying so when russian forces are actually at their staging area is sparkling, If russia was bluffing before, she is not any more now.

I think people are being too harsh on Russia's inability to deal with TB-2 drones. I don't see the current PLA or the US Army doing much better under the same circumstances. By nature these drones are small, fly much lower and subsequently difficult to detect and intercept with existing radar systems. China did export anti-drone radar to Saudi Arabia, but I don't think the Chinese military has put many of them into service.

If only TB-2 drones had the range to reach Moscow!

If NPT goes out the window then so does everything else signed in the post WW2 era.

That wouldn't be just the end of the post Cold War globalization era, it would put the world back in imperialist times with no limit on interstate competition.

Does Japan realize the implications of what that means for them? in a might makes right world they aren't going to do too hot with their resource dependencies and inability to upgrade industry.
If Japan goes nuclear, South Korea won't be far behind, then probably Australia. Iran will ride the wave of trend, Saudis will have to counter with nukes of their own, which will worry Turkey and push them to developing theirs. Germans will realise that they need nukes to stay relevant too, and a myriad moderate countries stuck between/close to nuclear powers will have to start their programs... That's why nobody's rocked the NPT boat so far. If the US wants to stay relevant and have the option of "a splendid little war" ever again, they'll have to wag their finger at Japan now.

China (or US) would disable all civilian comm in the area, ELINT the shit out of region to locate control center and bomb the shit out of it...

Failing that jam anything close to protected asset

Failing all the above, emp/drone gun the thing

Failing even that, shot it down the expensive way

Edit: Honestly I expected Russia to be able to do all that....
