Russia bomb Kiev regularly to keep Ukraine poor. EU don't want poor countries. Basket cases.

Huh, most east european countries were quite poor when they joined the EU.

If there is anything left of an independente Ukraine after this, expect expedited membership.
(exactly why Russia can't allowed that to happen in any shape of form if this clusterfuck of a political decision by Putin is to be seen as anything else than a colossal own goal)

Update from the negotiation:
Ukrainian delegation demanded Russia withdraw military forces before further negotiations.
Russian delegation answered that Russian forces and DPR forces have surrounded Mariupol and have began fire preparations before assault.

Ukraine is not in position to make demands like that, they never had intent for good faith negotiation its just stalling for time

Russia has began shelling cities. Just a reminder that many Chinese nationals are trapped in Ukraine. Pressure will mount on Chinese government to evacuate them.
Its already mounting. The big problem would be if Chinese people died in Ukraine. China should try to evacuate them quickly. Things are getting ugly with all that shelling in cities

Being opportunistic doesn't mean exploitative, don't let the implication of the word (as commonly used in the west) distract from what's beneficial to both China and Russia, buying rubles when it's cheap and under attack is supporting the Russian economy, helping to prop up its currency, and to be used to pay for Russian imports later.
The fine nuance in propaganda is difficult to notice, just like the phrase "Russia is China's junior partner" which implies negatively and is used as a wedge. Repetitious use of this word/phrase blurs the neutral meaning. We live in western dominated information-flow that even high-educated persons automatically agrees with Chinese opportunistic character.
For us that follow you understand your intended meaning. But then for those who don't, we hear: "That's China/Chinese for you .../etc."
Not to contradict you as I often read your excellent posts. Keep up the good work!
