No, the west has made it clear that this is actually about china, not russia in the latest "games". The sanctions against russia are entirely performative in nature and are designed to impress upon China full western capabilities. China must throw its full weight behind russia now while it still stands. At the same time, we expect our allies to do the same (i.e. Pakistan, or they can choose to be absorbed by India)

I am a hardcore realist and understands Russia + China + (Pakistan and others) has only a 30% chance against the "west". But this drops to under 10% once russia falls. We do not get to choose the timing of our rise. We roll the dice now.

I actually do talk to my American friends about international politics. two things: 1) in my circle they are already very liberal and are against US hegemony. Many protested against invasion of Iraq. 2) Nobody cares about China, period. people generally would say China will be successful and maybe know a few things from media. Americans are very domestic focused. They care about their foreign policy's impact on themselves, not some other countries.

Dude, humans are humans. Let them have a little fun, make a few jokes, and let the mods remove them if they have gone too far. Unfortunately in the West the last part is sorely lacking.

Key note for Iran and Israel is that Iraq sits in the middle. There is literally zero capabilities on either side to support the logistics for an invasion.

The Russian defense ministry has called on Ukrainian civilians to evacuate from Kiev. They can do so by taking a highway towards Vasilkov, a city located some 20km southwest from the Ukrainian capital, it said in a statement on Monday. “This direction is open and safe,” the statement said.

If this is true. Then the real Battle of Kiev is gonna begin sometime soon. Its looking like the Russians are going back to their traditional method of assaulting a city.

Reminds me of the Battle of Aleppo in 2016. Only that was carried out by the Syrian Army with Russian advisors. Surround the city, give a corridor for civilians to escape. When time is up. Begin the bombardment and storming of the city.
